UFC's Jon Jones Confirms Return to Training in Instagram Photo amid Injury Rehab

UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is back in the gym.

Jones posted a picture of himself training on Instagram as he continues rehabbing a pectoral injury.

The 36-year-old suffered a torn pectoral while training to fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. He has not fought since defeating Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 last March, yet the promotion has not stripped him of the title or named an interim heavyweight champion.

There has been no timeframe given for Jones' return to the Octagon, but one would assume he'll have to be back this year in order to keep his championship.

Jones is one of the biggest names in MMA history but has been a bit of an enigma in recent years. His win over Gane was the first time he fought since February 2020. The most decorated light heavyweight in UFC history, Jones has been stripped of his title three times and vacated it once without losing a fight.

Jones has been defeated inside a UFC ring just once, a 2009 loss to Matt Hamill in The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights finale.

UFC originally wanted Jones to headline UFC 300 earlier this month, but he declined the fight because he would not be healthy.

Jones was issued a summons earlier this month on allegations of assault and interference with communications after an incident with a Drug Free Sport International sample collector. He has denied any allegations of assault but said he was "bothered" by the situation.
