Former North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye says he has "an idea" of which team is going to select him in the 2024 NFL draft.

When asked if he knew his draft-day destination on Wednesday's episode of the Dan Patrick Show, Maye said: "I wish I did, and I wish it was that easy."

"I think I'll know when I hear that phone ring," he added.

But when pressed by Patrick about if he has any idea where he's going, Maye said: "I think I have an idea."

Maye's comments come around the 6:50 mark of the video above.

With USC's Caleb Williams the consensus No. 1 pick, Maye has been tied at Nos. 2 and 3 to the Washington Commanders and the New England Patriots.

He has also been linked with the New York Giants, who hold the No. 6 pick. ESPN's Dan Graziano wrote Wednesday that they were believed to be pursuing Maye rather than Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

The UNC signal-caller has also been connected to the Minnesota Vikings, who currently have the No. 11 pick on Thursday. NFL Network's Peter Schrager said Tuesday on the Pat McAfee Show that the Vikings and Giants are both in pursuit of the Patriots' pick in hopes of landing Maye.

Given the potential chilly destinations of Foxborough, Minneapolis and East Rutherford, Patrick asked Maye if he liked the cold.

"I don't mind it at all," he said. "You've got to play football. Football's a cold-weather sport, nowadays."

Whichever team drafts the former UNC signal-caller will hope to get its next franchise quarterback in Maye, who is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in the draft by the B/R NFL Scouting Department.
