Bucks' Bobby Portis Rips Pacers as 'Frontrunners' for Trash Talk During Game 2 Win

Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis addressed the Indiana Pacers' Tuesday night trash talk following their 125-108 Game 2 win to even the series at a game apiece.

"I mean, just quite frankly, they're frontrunners, bro," Portis said Tuesday, per The Athletic's Eric Nehm. "Y'all can just Tweet that or whatever it is, bro."

"When the sh-t going good, they laughing, clapping, all that. When it's going bad, they not saying nothing," Portis continued. "So I think, to answer that question, guys always feel good when they're having a good game or hitting shots, everybody. I think that's just human nature and basketball. When you making shots, you feeling good. But when the tough going, you can't get nothing going, it kind of go the other way.

"So, yeah, they're supposed to feel really good, of course. But Game 3 on the way Friday."

Portis recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds in the loss while shooting 6-for-16 from the field Tuesday.

His answer implied that the Pacers' attitude was sparked by their Tuesday night lead, although the difference in Indiana's performances between Games 1 and 2 raises the question of whether it was a cause or effect of the turnaround.

The Pacers improved in almost every shooting category from their 109-94 Game 1 loss, during which they trailed by as many as 30 points.

Indiana went from a 39.6 team shooting percentage to 55.6 percent, including an improvement from 21.1 percent to 44.4 percent on threes.

Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers also got in the face of Portis during what was a physical contest:

That allowed the Pacers to hold a lead from the first quarter on and eventually snap the franchise's 10-game playoff losing streak.

This isn't the first time there has been tension during a contest between the Bucks and Pacers this season. Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Haliburton clashed over which team should get to keep the game ball following a physical contest in December.

The Pacers will now look to ride the momentum of Tuesday's win into Game 3, while Portis will hope to bounce back with a strong shooting performance.

Portis could potentially get his seventh start of the season if Antetokounmpo remains sidelined with a calf injury, in which case Milwaukee will need more production from him in order to help cover for the loss of the two-time MVP.
