The Bayou Barbie is now the Chi Barbie.
But don't worry, LSU fans. Angel Reese is always going to be the Bayou Barbie even if she is headed to the WNBA's Chicago Sky.
"I want you all to know I'm still going to be the Bayou Barbie, but I'm going to Chicago now," she said on social media Thursday while revealing the new Chi Barbie nickname. "… Chi Town, I'll see y'all soon."
The nickname reveal comes after Reese said she needed a new nickname now that she is headed to the Windy City:
Chicago selected Reese with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. It was part of a head-turning first round for the Sky, which also selected South Carolina star Kamilla Cardoso with the No. 3 overall pick.
With Reese and Cardoso, the Sky have their frontcourt of the future in place as they look to compete during the upcoming campaign.
Reese earned the Bayou Barbie nickname at LSU while helping lead the Tigers to the 2022-23 national championship. She was a three-time All-American and an SEC Player of the Year during her collegiate career.
Now she will look to build on that success at the WNBA level with a new nickname in place.
