Kayla Harrison Reacts to Amanda Nunes Video, Open to Fight After She Wins UFC Title

After her successful UFC debut this past Saturday at UFC 300, Kayla Harrison has her eyes set on becoming a champion soon.

"I heard that [Bantamweight champion] Raquel [Pennington] is feeling a little under the weather, not able to fight. So if she can't fight for the title, I would love to fight Juliana [Pena], whoever, I don't care," Harrison told TMZ Sports. "I would love to fight for that belt."

Harrison, who defeated Holly Holm by second-round submission on Saturday night, also addressed former champion Amanda Nunes. After Harrison's victory, Nunes posted a video on social media reacting to her call for a title shot:

"And, if Amanda wants to come back once I win the title, I'll welcome her with open arms," Harrison said. "And, I'm not going to make any b---hing or moaning about her skipping the line, she can go ahead and skip right to the front. Come on down, honey."

Nunes reigned over the UFC bantamweight division after winning the title in 2016. She lost it to Pena in 2021 but regained the title a few months later and held it until she retired last June.

A fight between Harrison and Nunes has been something fans have been pining over for quite some time. Not only are they two of the best women's fighters of all time, but they have a lengthy history as former teammates at American Top Team.

It appears that a title win by Harrison will be enough to coax Nunes out of retirement, and MMA fans will eventually get their wish.
