NBA Playoffs 2024: Dates, Tip Times, and TV Schedule for Play-In Tournament

Andrew Peters

After the conclusion of the NBA regular season on Sunday, the dates, tip times and TV schedule for the play-in tournament are set.

The No. 8 Los Angeles Lakers and No. 7 New Orleans Pelicans will start play-in action on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT, with the No. 10 Golden State Warriors vs. the No. 9 Sacramento Kings to follow at 10 p.m. ET.

On Wednesday, the No. 8 Miami Heat will face the No. 7 Philadelphia 76ers at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, and the No. 10 Atlanta Hawks and No. 9 Chicago Bulls will follow that game at 9:30 p.m. ET.

NBA fans got a preview of one play-in tournament game Sunday when the Lakers faced the Pelicans. Los Angeles cruised to a 124-108 win in that game, but things could go differently on Tuesday with the added intensity of a playoff spot being on the line.

The matchup between the Warriors and Kings is much more high-stakes, as the loser will be eliminated. Golden State has been inconsistent all season but it will need to play its best basketball Tuesday to keep its playoff dreams alive.

Golden State bounced Sacramento in the first round last year, so the Kings will be looking for revenge in this one.

The winner of that game will face the loser of Los Angeles vs. New Orleans.

Wednesday's matchup between the Heat and the 76ers should be an exciting one. Philadelphia struggled without reigning MVP Joel Embiid, but he will be back on the court and looking to will his team to the playoffs.

The Heat reached the playoffs via the play-in tournament a year ago, and they parlayed that into an NBA Finals appearance. A repeat would be a phenomenal feat.

The Hawks and Bulls might not be possible contenders like the 76ers and Heat, but the two teams would still like to extend their seasons by making the playoffs. The winner will take on the loser of Miami vs. Philadelphia.
