NBA Playoff Standings 2024: Final Regular-Season Records, Seedings and Bracket

Joe Tansey

The Oklahoma City Thunder claimed the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference on the final day of the NBA season.

Oklahoma City beat out the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves to earn home-court advantage throughout the West playoffs.

Sunday's results also confirmed three playoff matchups in each conference, as well as the four play-in games to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Phoenix Suns earned the most significant result to avoid the play-in round on Sunday.

Phoenix's win over Minnesota combined with the New Orleans Pelicans' loss to the Los Angeles Lakers placed Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Co. into the No. 6 seed in the West.

The Pelicans and Lakers will play each other again on Tuesday as a result of the Lakers' win in New Orleans.

No change happened in the East play-in places on Sunday. The Indiana Pacers stayed in the top six, while the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat just missed out and landed in the play-in round.

The full playoff and play-in brackets can be found here on NBA.com.

Play-In Places

7. Philadelphia (47-35)

8. Miami (46-36)

9. Chicago (39-42)

10. Atlanta (36-46)

Indiana and Orlando avoided the play-in round with wins on Sunday.

The Pacers put up 157 points in a blowout win over the Atlanta Hawks, while the Magic knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks without Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Those two victories kept the Sixers in the No. 7 spot in the standings. That locked Joel Embiid and Co. into a Wednesday home game with Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat with a shot to play the New York Knicks on the line.

New York leapt into the No. 2 seed thanks to Milwaukee's home loss. The Knicks and Bucks are the two highest seeds on their side of the bracket. Milwaukee faces Indiana in the first round.

The Boston Celtics will be the last East team to find out their first-round opponent. They take on the winner of Friday's play-in finale.

The Philadelphia-Miami loser faces the Chicago-Atlanta winner on Friday. The Bulls host the No. 9-versus-No. 10 clash with the Hawks on Wednesday.

1. Oklahoma City (57-25)

2. Denver (57-25)

3. Minnesota (56-26)

4. Los Angeles Clippers (51-31)

5. Dallas (50-32)

6. Phoenix (49-33)

Play-In Places

7. New Orleans (49-33)

8. Los Angeles Lakers (47-35)

9. Sacramento (46-36)

10. Golden State (46-36)

Oklahoma City won the biggest shift at the top of the standings on Sunday.

The Thunder hold home-court advantage throughout the West playoffs, but they could face a dangerous No. 8 seed.

The Lakers, Kings and Warriors sit eighth through 10th in the West and all three could make a run at the 8 seed.

New Orleans hopes it does not have to worry about the No. 8 seed on Friday. The Pelicans have a second shot against the Lakers at home on Tuesday in the play-in round.

The Pelicans are in this position because they lost the head-to-head tiebreaker to the Suns.

Phoenix is arguably the biggest winner from Sunday's games because it avoided the play-in round and set up a first-round matchup with a Minnesota team that it just beat on Sunday.

The Suns beat the Wolves twice in April and three times this season. They will likely be the top lower seed chosen to advance out of the opening round because of that.
