NBA L2M: Lakers' LeBron James Should've Been Called for 2 Travels Late vs. Grizzlies

Friday's Los Angeles Lakers-Memphis Grizzlies game featured a few missed calls, the NBA confirmed on Saturday.

The league posted its Last Two Minute report for the 123-120 Lakers win and revealed that Lakers forward LeBron James should have been called for two travels and that forward Rui Hachimura should have been assessed a foul.

The missed calls happened within the last 1:42 of the game. The first travel should have been called due to James switching his pivot foot and the second should have been called due to him lifting and replanting his pivot foot prior to releasing his dribble.

Hachimura's foul should have been called due to him extending his leg into Grizzlies forward GG Jackson and initiating contact that affected his shot attempt.

Memphis did notably take a lead within the period of the incorrect calls but Los Angeles did lead for the majority of the period. The first travel came on a play that did not result in points for the Lakers, but the second happened during a sequence that saw James hit a field goal.

While this did not have negative ramifications for the Grizzlies in terms of playoff contention, as the team is mathematically eliminated, it did help Los Angeles in its push for seeding. The Lakers currently sit in eighth place in the conference and have a game on the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings, who sit behind Los Angeles in the standings.

With only a single game remaining in the regular season, every game counts towards pursuing positioning within the tightly-contested conference.
