Grand Canyon's Gabe McGlothan won the 2024 College Slam Dunk Contest, but not without controversy.

McGlothan earned a perfect score of 60 on a last-second slam in the final round to defeat John Ukomadu, but there are questions as to whether it should have counted. Fans pointed out that while McGlothan did get his final dunk off before his 60-second clock ran out, it came on his fourth attempt.

By rule, that means the dunk should not have counted and Ukomadu should have won the contest. Some also believed Ukomadu's final-round dunk, which he made on his first try, should have earned a perfect 60 as well.

Bryce Drew, the head coach at Grand Canyon, was one of the judges. He's the only judge who gave Ukomadu's final-round dunk a 9. All other judges gave him a perfect 10.

The contest was also held on Grand Canyon University's campus.
