Tiger Woods is minimizing distractions ahead of the 2024 Masters.
"He's focused," one of his friends told Steve Helling of the New York Post. "He's working really hard in the gym. He's eating right. He's even eliminated sex.
"He does that now when he's preparing: no sex until the tournament is over. He doesn't want anything to take away his focus."
While Woods' friend said the 48-year-old is single, the legendary golfer's personal life has been under the spotlight many times throughout his career. That was most famously the case in late 2009 when he took a temporary leave from the sport and saw some sponsors withdraw after a string of infidelity claims were made public.
He and his then-wife, Elin Nordegren, eventually divorced, and Woods admitted to affairs during an apology press conference before returning to golf.
While Woods returned to golf and continued one of the greatest careers in the sport's history, he has not been the same force on the course in recent years.
As ESPN's Mark Schlabach noted, he missed the cut or withdrew from four of his six starts since he suffered significant injuries in a car accident in February 2021. One of those two tournament finishes came when he ended up in 47th place in the 2022 Masters, but he withdrew from the event last year following the third round.
He also withdrew from the Genesis Invitational this year because of influenza that required IV bags to be treated.
Still, Woods will be appointment viewing if he does participate in this year's Masters.
The 15-time major champion has largely dominated the event with 14 top-10 finishes and five green jackets during 25 appearances. A victory at this stage of his career is extremely unlikely, but he has provided countless memorable moments on the sport's most famous stage.
