WWE's Logan Paul Says He Had Suicidal Thoughts amid Coverage About CryptoZoo Scandal

YouTuber and WWE Superstar Logan Paul divulged in an upcoming documentary that he was in a dark place mentally amid allegations in 2021 and 2022 that his NFT game CryptoZoo was a scam.

In the documentary by Graham Bensinger titled 5 Months with Logan Paul (h/t TMZ Sports), Paul said there was a time when he had suicidal thoughts as a result of the CryptoZoo fallout: "For the first time in my life I was having suicidal thoughts. I was just spiraling, Graham. Spiraling. I was crying, like sobbing ... I felt weak, which is uncommon for me. I'm supposed to be the leader."

Paul launched CryptoZoo in 2021, and by 2022 YouTuber Coffeezilla created a three-part docuseries exposing the issues with the game.

Per Daysia Tolentino of NBC News, CryptoZoo users were supposed to be able to purchase base egg NFTs that would hatch into base animal NFTs and could then be bred into hybrid animal NFTs.

Hatching eggs also would have earned users $ZOO tokens, which was in-game cryptocurrency that could be cashed out or used to buy more NFTs.

The game did not work as intended, though, and a class-action lawsuit was filed against Paul by February 2023 due to allegations that CryptoZoo was a "fraudulent venture."

In January 2024, Paul announced a $2.3 million buyback program in which he would buy back base egg and base animal NFTs for their original price. By opting into the buyback, people waived their right to sue Paul.

While the CryptoZoo situation was a trying one for Paul, he is enjoying enormous success professionally, especially when it comes to WWE.

The 28-year-old made his in-ring debut for WWE at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, and he has since gone on to establish himself as one of the company's top heels and most popular stars.

Paul beat WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship at Crown Jewel in November, and he is set to enter WrestleMania 40 as champion.

At WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia next month, Paul will put the title on the line in a Triple Threat against a pair of former world champions in Randy Orton and Kevin Owens.
