Rams' Stetson Bennett Expected to Participate in LA's Offseason Workouts, per GM

The Los Angeles Rams are expecting quarterback Stetson Bennett to work out with the team this offseason.

"What we've done is, Dave Ragone, our new quarterback coach, had a relationship with Stetson from last year's draft, being in Atlanta, so I know Dave's step one was him connecting with Stetson and rekindling their relationship," general manager Les Snead told reporters Monday.

"I know he's in Dallas working out. I know Dave has shown some clips of Stetson working out at the place where, I'm pretty sure it's where he trained coming out, but I know it's in Dallas. So he's looking good. So right now our plan is to onboard him for our offseason workouts."

Los Angeles selected Bennett in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft. While nobody expected him to immediately supplant Matthew Stafford as the starter, his arrival was the cause for some excitement.

The Georgia alumnus would get to learn under Stafford for a season and grow familiar with Sean McVay's offense. The two-time national champion has yet to suit up for the Rams, though. The team placed him on the reserve/non-football illness list last September for undisclosed reasons.

Based on Snead's comments, Los Angeles continues to see a place for Bennett.

The Rams signed Jimmy Garoppolo, ostensibly to be Stafford's backup, but he'll miss the first two weeks through suspension. His absence creates the need for a different quarterback to sit behind Stafford to open 2024, and more broadly the franchise may not feel all that wedded to Jimmy G when he's on a relatively cheap one-year contract.

Bennett should have ample opportunity to impress the coaching staff this summer.
