Fantasy Baseball 2024 Rankings: Highlighting Top Prospects to Target

Zach Buckley

The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers have already started on their respective 162-game treks, and the other 28 MLB teams are one week away from opening their 2024 seasons.

In the fantasy baseball world, it's officially cram-session time, as most leagues are on the final countdown before their drafts.

If you haven't plotted your pre-draft strategy yet, time is ticking away to do so. Luckily, we're here to help with our top-30 points league rankings and a pair of top prospects worth targeting, even in redraft ranks.

Prospect to Target: Wyatt Langford, OF, Texas Rangers

Not even a full year has passed since Wyatt Langford was the No. 4 pick of the 2023 draft, but he already seems destined for stardom.

Minor league pitchers proved powerless against him. In 44 games across four minor league levels last season, he tallied 10 homers and 12 steals while posting a .360/.480/.677 slash line.

This spring, it's been more of the same domination. He's had six homers, 13 runs and 19 RBI in just 17 games, while once again going absurd with his slash line: .388/.446/.796. He hasn't stolen a base yet, but his speed and track record both suggest a boat load of steals are in his future.

None of this, of course, guarantees fantasy stardom will come immediately for Langford, but that possibility is on the table. Even if he's 75 percent of what we think he can become, that's an awfully valuable contributor in fantasy, especially in this loaded Rangers lineup.

Prospect to Target: Jackson Chourio, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers didn't bother to wait for Jackson Chourio's 20th birthday—or his MLB debut—to give him an eight-year, $82 million deal. That was the clearest sign of any that his talent could be tremendous.

"Chourio is the sort of dynamic talent whose tools are so loud that the numbers are immaterial, but even so, they were pretty great in 2023," CBS Sports' Scott White wrote. "Most notable was how he cut his strikeout rate to 17.8 percent, down from 26.9 percent the year before, despite making the big leap to Double-A."

Chourio dazzled throughout the 2023 season, which he spent mostly at Double-A before a late promotion to Triple-A. Over 128 appearances, he had 22 homers, 44 stolen bases and 179 combined runs and RBI. He batted .283 and slugged .467. And, again, he did all of that damage as a 19-year-old.

His speed should be an immediate fantasy asset, and his power could be plenty helpful, too. Another 20/40 season is absolutely within his range of possible outcomes.
