Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is one of the greatest scorers of his generation, but he hasn't played that way over his last few games.
While facing a Milwaukee Bucks team that was without two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Durant was limited to just 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting as the Suns suffered a 140-129 loss. It was his second straight game with less than 15 points and his third straight game of shooting under 50 percent from the field.
An off-night by Durant will always raise some eyebrows, but it was his effort and body language that was truly concerning. The 35-year-old entered the game averaging 19.5 field goal attempts per contest. On Sunday, he frequently disappeared on offense and displayed a lack of aggression that hurt Phoenix's chances of competing, as the team never held a lead after the first quarter.
Bradley Beal had one of his best games as a member of the Suns, leading the team with 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Grayson Allen added 25 points with six three-pointers and Devin Booker notched 23 points.
Unfortunately, Durant failed to show up while the Bucks were led by Damian Lillard and Bobby Portis, who scored 31 points apiece. Lillard tied a career-high with 16 assists.
Fans on social media did not let Durant off the hook during his lackluster performance on Sunday:
The Suns fell to 39-29 with Sunday's loss. Phoenix has had a hard time fighting its way out of position for the play-in tournament, and time is running out for the team to climb the standings.
The Suns are certainly hoping that Durant will get back to playing at an MVP level as the postseason approaches.
Phoenix will be back in action on Wednesday at home against the Philadelphia 76ers (37-30).
