Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett is questionable to return to Sunday's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
The team announced that he has a rib injury. While he was listed as questionable, he did not return to the game.
With Pickett and usual start Jalen Hurts out, the Eagles turned to Tanner McKee under center, who helped finish a 41-7 win vs. the Cowboys.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Pickett entered the game with broken ribs and received two painkilling injections, one before the game and one at halftime.
Pickett was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Philadelphia Eagles in March following his poor handling after the Black and Gold's signing of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported at the time.
Ahead of Sunday's contest, Pickett had appeared in four games, completing 15 of his 27 pass attempts for 148 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He saw the most action last week against the Washington Commanders after Hurts went down with a concussion. In that matchup, Pickett threw for 143 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a 36-33 loss.
Pickett had a tough 2023 season with the Steelers in terms of injuries.
The 26-year-old underwent tightrope surgery on his ankle on Dec. 4 following a Week 13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He wasn't placed on injured reserve, but he missed matchups against the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals because of the ailment.
Pickett led the Steelers to a 7-5 record through Pittsburgh's first 12 games. He completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,070 yards and six touchdowns against four interceptions in that span, in addition to rushing for 54 yards and one score.
The Eagles will hope to get Hurts and Pickett back on the field soon as their third-string option, McKee, comes in with little experience. The third-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft had not taken a snap in a regular-season game before Sunday's matchup.
Luckily for Philadelphia, it came into Sunday's contest having already secured a playoff berth and it is now just looking to clinch the NFC East.
