Jonathan Owens, Husband of Simone Biles, Agrees to Bears Contract After Packers Stint

Jonathan Owens is moving on from the Green Bay Packers and signing with a division rival.

Owens, the husband of four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, has agreed to a two-year contract with the Chicago Bears in free agency, his agent, Sunny Shah, told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Biles was quick to thank Green Bay on social media and also shared her excitement for Owens' next chapter in Chicago:

Owens began his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri Western State in 2018. He didn't make his NFL debut until 2019 with the Houston Texans, with whom he spent four seasons.

The 28-year-old appeared in just 14 games across his first three seasons in Houston, posting one interception, one pass defended, one fumble recovery and 18 tackles, before putting together a breakout campaign with the franchise in 2022.

Owens recorded four passes defended, one sack and 125 tackles in 17 games during the 2022 season.

The Packers signed Owens to a one-year deal ahead of the 2023 campaign and he went on to post three passes defended, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 84 tackles in 17 games. He also made seven tackles in two playoff games for Green Bay.

Now in Chicago, Owens joins a talented secondary that includes Jaquan Brisker, Jaylon Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson and the newly-signed Kevin Byard, who agreed to a two-year, $15 million deal with the franchise on Sunday following his release from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Owens and Biles married in April 2023 and held an official wedding ceremony in May of that year.

While Owens is focused on the upcoming season, Biles continues to train in hopes of securing a spot on the USA Gymnastics squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer.
