AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights From March 9

Doc-Chris Mueller

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on March 9.

Following his official debut at Revolution, Kazuchika Okada made his first appearance on Collision as a member of The Elite, but a lot more than that happened Saturday night.

Here's a look at the advertised card heading into this week's Collision:

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's Collision.

Bryan Danielson vs. Shane Taylor

Collision. AEW

Danielson opened up Collision with his entrance. He is once again acting like a babyface and interacting with the crowd, so his little heel turn during his feud with Eddie Kingston is over for now. Danielson is one of the few convincing tweeners, so he can get away with it.

Taylor immediately showed off his power by shoving Bryan halfway across the ring as soon as they locked up.

For the first couple of minutes, this was all about Taylor being dominant. Once Danielson was able to chop him down to size, he started focusing on Taylor's legs with kicks and various maneuvers.

They went back and forth controlling the pace a few times. This match had a steady pace that gave them plenty of time for trash-talking and posturing. These are two very different kinds of wrestlers who both enjoy strikes, so there were some great exchanges.

The American Dragon picked up a win and was immediately confronted by Will Ospreay. He put over Taylor and Danielson's match and said Danielson is still one of the best out there, but he was angry Danielson tried to steal his thunder on Dynamite.

Danielson challenged him to a match at Dynasty and Ospreay agreed and shook hands.

Result: Danielson defeated Taylor

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

The Elite Squash, Maria May vs. Trish Adora

Collision. AEW

Okada has his first match on Collision against three jobbers in a trios match alongside The Young Bucks. The Elite won a very quick squash match.

Eddie Kingston showed up and tried to attack but was beaten down by all three men until Pac came out to make the save. Next week we will get Kingston, Pac and Penta vs. The Elite in a trios bout.

Result: The Elite won

Grade: Incomplete

The next match saw May, still dressing like Toni Storm's original gimmick, take on Adora in singles competition.

While Adora had a slight power advantage, this felt like an even matchup. Neither competitor felt as if they were at a significant disadvantage.

This was a short match with good energy but not nearly enough time. May's running knee finisher looked great to cap it off.

Storm came out and presented May with a Toni award, but Deonna Purrazzo tried to intervene. Storm and May took her down and celebrated.

Result: May defeated Adora

Grade: C+

Notable Moments and Observations

Nick Wayne Squash, Chris Jericho vs. Titan

Collision. AEW

Wayne had a quick match this week against a local talent named Adam Priest. He is not a complete unknown to indie fans, but his role here was to job to Wayne. The young man won with Wayne's World.

A masked man attacked Christian from the crowd and was eventually revealed to be Adam Copeland. The segment ended with Copeland holding the TNT title above his head.

Result: Wayne won

Grade: Incomplete

Another CMLL luchador stepped into an AEW ring this week when Titan took on Jericho, who was in his Lionheart gear.

Jericho works well with luchadors because he spent time in Mexico wrestling and has continued working with many in WWE and AEW. He knows the style, uses a lot of it in his own style, and makes a good base for high-flyers because he can catch people safely.

Jericho is no spring chicken but when he fights these younger luchadors, it seems to bring something out of him. It's almost as if he feels a bit younger by being around the kinds of wrestlers he came up alongside.

This was a solid encounter that made Titan look good in his AEW debut and allowed Jericho to show he still has some gas in the tank. Lionheart picked up a submission win to close out a match that ended up being more fun than expected.

Result: Jericho defeated Titan

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

Mistico vs. Angelico

Collision. AEW

A battle of different lucha styles took place when the uber-technical Angelico took on the high-flying Mistico.

This is the kind of match you can't do justice with a summary because so much was going on. They packed a lot of great action into what was about 10 minutes from bell to bell.

Mistico scored the win and both Angelico and Serpentico raised his hands as a sign of respect. Go out of your way to see this. It's not that long and a great example of both lucha styles.

Result: Mistico defeated Angelico

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

House of Black vs. Briscoe, Lethal and Jarrett

Collision. AEW

The main event this week was a trios Street Fightt with Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews and Brody King taking on Briscoe, Lethal and Jarrett.

This was chaos from start to finish, but nobody would expect anything less in an AEW street fight. We saw weapons of all kinds, a few non-participants getting involved, and even some lighter fluid that was almost used to set Sonjay Dutt on fire.

Black ended up winning for his team after putting Briscoe through a flaming table and pinning him in the ring. This was not pretty, but it was some fun mayhem to wrap up the show.

This may not be the end of this feud, but if it is, it certainly put HOB back on the right track to chase the trios titles again.

Result: House of Black defeated Briscoe, Lethal and Jarrett

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

The Final Word

Collision. AEW

This week's Collision had a couple of great matches, but it also had some unnecessarily short bouts and at least one strange booking decision.

The billed debut of the new Elite seemed like it would be a promo, but instead, Okada randomly wrestled his first match as a contracted AEW talent in a trios squash match.

Call us crazy, but debuting a man who is widely considered to be one of the best modern pro wrestlers in a one-minute trios bout seems like an odd choice.

The Street Fight was entertaining, but Angelico and Mistico definitely had the best technical match while Danielson and Taylor had a more well-rounded encounter.

The non-wrestling segments all did their job, but Storm's presentation of the Toni Award was a highlight.

Grade: B
