Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant typically debuts his signature sneakers late in the NBA season, but the first look at his latest edition appears to have been revealed a little early.

Sneaker News posted an image of the upcoming Nike KD 17 on social media:

The first image of the Nike KD 17 interestingly appears to feature an Oklahoma City Thunder-themed colorway, which is a throwback to the franchise Durant started his career with following the Seattle SuperSonics' move to the Midwest.

Sneaker News detailed the intricacies of the design of the upcoming kicks, stating, "This first look at the KD 17 reveals refreshed design inspired by some key footwear models from the 1990s. Right off the bat, the Air Max Plus has some apparent influence via the exterior cage inspired by lava lamps. The midsole design also has some resemblance to the Air Talaria running shoe, albeit without the signature lines that are carved into the foam."

It was also noted that since Durant usually wears his new sneakers during the NBA playoffs, those anxiously awaiting the Nike KD 17 can "anticipate an official debut in April 2024."

Durant became the third basketball player ever to sign a lifetime deal with Nike last year, joining Michael Jordan and LeBron James. After Tiger Woods ended his 27-year partnership with the company in January, Cristiano Ronaldo is the only non-NBA player to remain with Nike on a lifetime contract.

In his 16th season, Durant has not lost a step, as he's averaging 28.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists for the Suns, who rank fifth in the Western Conference with a 34-24 record.
