Final Picks for Sting, Darby Allin vs. Young Bucks and AEW Revolution 2024 Match Card

Graham GSM Matthews

Despite the relative lack of buzz surrounding the televised product so far this year, AEW Revolution 2024 has the potential to be one of the company's strongest shows in some time with what's on tap.

The entire event has been built around Sting's last match, where he and Darby Allin will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks. Regardless of the outcome, it's guaranteed to be an epic occasion.

Samoa Joe will defend his AEW World Championship in a three-way with top of AEW's top talents in Adam Page and Swerve Strickland. For as hot as Strickland has been as of late, Joe is also riding a wave of momentum and could conceivably walk out still champ.

Additionally, Toni Storm will face her toughest opposition to date in the form of former friend Deonna Purrazzo. Can AEW's timeless treasure find a way to extend her title reign?

In other action, Will Ospreay will make his official in-ring debut as an AEW-contracted star, Roderick Strong will take on Orange Cassidy for the AEW International Championship, and Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson will finally settle their score.

Ahead of tonight's stacked show, these are the last-minute picks that matter most.

Zero Hour

Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale vs. Julia Hart and Skye Blue

Statlander and Nightingale have proven to be a cohesive unit in the short time they've been teaming. However, Statlander falling short against Blue on last Wednesday's Dynamite could indicate dissension being within their ranks.

Of the two, Stokely Hathaway would presumably break away with Statlander as a heel pairing to feud with Nightingale. Unless, Statlander or Nightingale are next in line for an opportunity at Hart's AEW TBS Championship, Hart and Blue winning this tag team affair is the ideal outcome.

Bang Bang Scissor Gang vs. Jarrett, Singh, Lethal, Mack and Private Party

Bullet Club Gold's alliance with The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn has been a colossal waste of all involved. Jay White should be slotted higher on the card after contending for the AEW World Championship in the main event of Full Gear only a few short months ago.

This match merely exists to get the AEW World Trios champions and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team champions on the card in some capacity. Bang Bang Scissor Gang will unquestionably come away with the win. Their split and subsequent rivalry should be imminent.

Undercard

AEW TNT Championship: Christian Cage vs. Daniel Garcia

Christian remains entrenched in a heated rivalry with Adam Copeland that doesn't need the TNT title. Copeland already held the gold–albeit briefly–at Worlds End, whereas the up-and-coming Garcia would benefit far more from winning it. He's the better bet here.

FTR vs. Blackpool Combat Club

The original encounter–which was exceptionally wrestled as expected–between these two teams ended in a time-limit draw. The outcome is entirely dependent on who will be next in line for an AEW World Tag Team Championship opportunity, so FTR have the slight edge as they have yet to get their rightful rematch for the twin titles they lost in October.

Will Ospreay vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Ospreay has already scored his fair share of high-profile wins in AEW, but now that he's put pen to paper with the promotion, it's important for him to be introduced as the main-event player he is. That obviously includes a victory here and a departure from The Don Callis Family soon after.

All-Star Scramble Match

The winner of this multi-match will earn a future shot at the AEW World Championship. It's essentially AEW's way of getting everyone on the card, but Powerhouse Hobbs makes the most sense to come out on top and get another step closer toward the main-event scene even if he doesn't capture the prestigious prize.

AEW Continental Crown Championship: Eddie Kingston vs. Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson and Eddie Kingston have been at odds on and off for years in what has always been a battle for respect. This time, however, Kingston's newly-won AEW Continental Crown Championship will also be up for grabs.

The Mad King has been a prominent fixture on AEW programming since clinching the ROH World Championship last fall and becoming the first-ever Continental Crown champ at Worlds End only elevated him to the next level of super stardom.

With Danielson being in the twilight of his full-time wrestling career, he has nothing to gain from taking the title from Kingston at Revolution.

The match will undoubtedly deliver, but the ultimate endgame should be for Danielson to pay respect to Kingston in order to end their rivalry once and for all.

Kingston has plenty of fresh opponents to defend against across the AEW, Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling rosters, while Danielson can focus on other bucket-list items in the remainder of his run with the company.

Prediction: Eddie Kingston retains.

AEW International Championship: Orange Cassidy vs. Roderick Strong

Orange Cassidy's lengthy first reign as AEW International champion culminated in phenomenal fashion with September's All Out main event against Jon Moxley. He randomly regained the belt soon after and hasn't reached those same heights since.

It's high time he move on from the International title scene, and Roderick Strong is the perfect person to dethrone him as champ.

The Undisputed Kingdom has largely been on ice following their newsworthy unveiling at Worlds End. Adam Cole being out injured hasn't helped matters and the booking of the rest of the group has been mediocre at best.

Thus, this is a must-win situation for Strong. Cassidy has no business holding that title beyond Revolution and Strong needs to prove he too can hang at a high level by bringing more gold into the group.

Hopefully this marks the start of bigger and better things for Undisputed Kingdom, who desperately need some sort of shot in the arm to get back to being a dominant force.

Prediction: Roderick Strong wins the AEW International Championship.

AEW Women's World Championship: Toni Storm vs. Deonna Purrazzo

AEW has done an effective job of expanding its women's division in the last six months by bolstering it with star power and assigning them more storylines. At the forefront has been Toni Storm with her "Timeless" persona that has become a massive hit with the audience.

Deonna Purrazzo has been one of the handful of new aqquistions to be booked well and established as a legitimate threat to Storm's AEW Women's World Championship. She and Storm have history as former friends and thus they'll have a personal score to settle with each other at Revolution.

Purrazzo capturing the title would be perfectly acceptable and make for a memorable moment, but there are more credible competitors waiting in the wings to challenge Storm before her reign is over, soon-to-be-debuting Mercedes Moné being chief among them.

Mariah May will eventually factor into her loss of the title to kickstart a feud between the two of them, but that betrayal shouldn't come as soon as Revolution. Storm will once again emerge victorious, but only after a hard-fought bout with Purrazzo that sees her take Storm to her limit.

Prediction: Toni Storm retains.

AEW World Championship: Samoa Joe vs. Swerve Strickland vs. Adam Page

Samoa Joe has been flourishing since signing with AEW two years ago but was missing the one thing necessary to cement him as a staple in the main-event scene: the AEW World Championship.

Between his highly-physical matches and captivating promos, his run on top has been nothing short of stellar so far. Swerve Strickland has been hot on his heels and Adam Page has served as a significant thorn in his side as well.

The most intriguing aspect of their three-way at Revolution is that the outcome could realistically go any number of ways.

Strickland continuing his winning ways by walking out as AEW World champion would be the obvious option, but such a celebration should be saved for when it's the focal point of a pay-per-view and not overshadowed by another main-event (in this case, Sting's final match).

Therefore, Joe retaining with Strickland staying in chase mode a little longer is the logical direction to go in.

With Strickland's stock soaring at the moment, it's imperative he be protected in defeat with Joe beating Page for the win.

Prediction: Samoa Joe retains.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Darby Allin and Sting vs. The Young Bucks

Sting's swan song will take center stage in the main event of Revolution as it should, and the atmosphere alone in Greensboro, North Carolina will be an exhilarating experience.

Sting and Darby Allin haven't held the AEW World Tag Team Championship for more than a few weeks, but having the belts on the line for this marquee match makes it all the more meaningful.

It also makes it more predictable that Sting will be ending his iconic career by doing the honors and crowning The Young Bucks the new champs.

As deserving as Sting is of retiring with a title, his old-school mentality will prevail with him wanting to put over the Bucks on his way out. The match is sure to feature enough satisfying spots that the crowd will be entertained no matter who comes out on top.

AEW has done justice by Sting in his three-plus years with the promotion and will ensure his sendoff goes off without a hitch as well. This main event could go down as one of their most monumental if executed accordingly.

Prediction: The Young Bucks win the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
