Ranking the Top 25 Players in the 2025 CFB Recruiting Class

Brad Shepard

If you don't already have a head start on the 2025 recruiting class, guess what?

You're behind.

As fans, of course we're still putting the finishing touches on the '24 recruiting class that culminated with this week's national signing day. But coaches already have their big boards updated and adjusted for next year and even 2026.

Several of the top quarterbacks have already come off the board, and in today's commit-quick world, there are a bunch of top-tier prospects already pledged with a preliminary commitment, too.

So, who are the biggest names to know for the '25 class? Of course, these can (and will) change the more kids go to camps, show out, put their resumes on film everywhere and get their names and highlights out to coaches around the country. But plenty already have put their names in bold print.

Using film study and evaluation with a nod toward expert rankings across all services and offer sheets, here is Bleacher Report's way-too-early top-25 prospect list for the 2025 class. In other words, here's 25 for '25 you should get to know.

25-21. Marshall to Thomas

Zion Grady backed off his Alabama commitment and is back on the market. Credit: 247Sports

25. Nathaniel Marshall, Defensive Lineman

Height/Weight: 6'4", 265 pounds

City, State (School): Oak Park, Illinois (Fenwick)

1 Thing to Know: Competition will be heavy for Marshall, who is one of the top defenders in the nation for the '25 class. Staying near home is an option, though. His grandfather, Ken Norman, played for the Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team from 1985-87 and was inducted into the university's athletics Hall of Fame last year. "To know I could potentially carry on the legacy of him is a pretty big deal," Marshall told the Illini Inquirer's Joey Wagner.

24. Zion Grady, Edge

Height/Weight: 6'4", 220 pounds

City, State (School): Enterprise, Alabama (Enterprise)

1 Thing to Know: It has been obvious recently with Na'eem Offord's commitment to Ohio State that Kalen DeBoer being at Alabama isn't keeping teams from coming into the Yellow Hammer State and luring the top prospects. Grady was once committed to the Crimson Tide but backed off when Nick Saban retired. He already has visited Georgia and Ohio State since, and this will be a heavy-hitter battle.

23. Andrew Marsh, Wide Receiver

Height/Weight: 6'1", 173 pounds

City, State (School): Fulshear, Texas (Katy Jordan)

1 Thing to Know: The state of Texas is full of powerhouse high school programs, but Marsh doesn't play for one of those historically great ones. The big-play pass-catcher helped propel his team to a level yet unseen last year when he caught eight passes for 240 yards and five touchdowns, including touchdowns of 45, 49 and 70 yards in the game that pushed them to their first-ever playoff appearance, according to the Katy Times' Tyler Tyre.

22. Tavien St. Clair, Quarterback

Height/Weight: 6'3.5", 210 pounds

City, State (School): Bellefontaine, Ohio (Bellefontaine)

1 Thing to Know: Even with a loaded quarterback room already in Columbus (Will Howard, Devin Brown, Julian Sayin, Air Noland), the Buckeyes already have secured their signal-caller for the '25 class. In-state product St. Clair has been committed since all the way back in June 2023, when he earned a camp offer after packing on 36 pounds due to a regimented workout program between his sophomore and junior years.

21. Solomon Thomas, Offensive Lineman

Height/Weight: 6'4", 315 pounds

City, State (School): Jacksonville, Florida (Raines)

1 Thing to Know: Like a lot of athletes who are top-tier difference-makers, Thomas plays multiple sports. But not all of them are state champions. According to his 247Sports profile, the interior offensive lineman earned the Florida 2A state discus championship as a sophomore with a winning throw of 168-6 in May 2023.

20-16. Fasusi to Petty

OL Josh Petty Credit: 247Sports

20. Michael Fasusi, Offensive Tackle

Height/Weight: 6'4", 285 pounds

City, State (School): Lewisville, Texas (Lewisville)

1 Thing to Know: Fasusi has exploded onto the radar and is one of the most coveted prospects in the entire class. He already has committed to play in the All-America Bowl and the Polynesian Bowl. But football is new to him. He told SI.com's Randall Sweet when he moved to the U.S. from Nigeria in middle school, he wanted to play soccer but wound up on the football field. It was a good move.

19. Ari Watford, Edge

Height/Weight: 6'5", 270 pounds

City, State (School): Norfolk, Virginia (Maury)

1 Thing to Know: Clemson coach Dabo Swinney may be late to the transfer portal game, but he is doing just fine recruiting the high school prospects, and the Tigers got a big boost a couple of weeks ago when Watford became the eighth member of Clemson's '25 class. Others will try to change his mind, but the Tigers are getting one of the most explosive edge-rushers in next year's class and building a terrific haul.

18. Andrew Babalola, Offensive Tackle

Height/Weight: 6'6", 275 pounds

City, State (School): Overland Park, Kansas (Blue Valley Northwest)

1 Thing to Know: Much like Fasusi, Babalola is very new to the game, but that hasn't stopped teams from offering him left and right. He has an athletic build and it seems like every day, a new Power Five offer rolls in for the prospect who hails from just outside Kansas City. The amount of interest he has gained is impressive considering '23 was his first full year playing the sport, according to 247Sports Allen Trieu.

17. Elyiss Williams, Tight End

Height/Weight: 6'7", 235 pounds

City, State (School): Kingsland, Georgia (Camden County)

1 Thing to Know: Williams' Camden County football program is a Peach State powerhouse, and UGA coach Kirby Smart has done a great job recruiting players from all across the country, so why not just stay home? The 6'7" tight end could thrive at that position or on defense coming off the edge, and it's a great problem for the Bulldogs to have after he committed to play his college ball in Athens for the SEC's version of "Tight End U."

16. Josh Petty, Offensive Tackle

Height/Weight: 6'5", 262 pounds

City, State (School): Roswell, Georgia (Fellowship Christian School)

1 Thing to Know: Petty plays at a tiny 1A school, but according to head coach John Thompson, "he's the face of this school," via Dawg Nation's Jeff Sentell. Thompson had nothing but gushing things to say about Petty, who has blossomed into a superstar prospect. The coach should know, too. He is a former defensive coordinator at Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss and South Carolina, as well as a former East Carolina head coach and Georgia State DC.

15-11. Williams to Walker

Tennessee QB commit George MacIntyre Credit: 247Sports

15. Jonah Williams, Safety

Height/Weight: 6'3", 203 pounds

City, State (School): Galveston, Texas (Ball)

1 Thing to Know: If you want a do-it-all prospect who simply makes things happen when he gets his hands on the ball, Williams is your guy. His highest upside is as a hard-hitting safety who can come down and play in the box as a linebacker. But check out these stats from his junior year: He terrorized opponents with 58 tackles, four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns) and four tackles for loss. He also caught 20 passes for 474 yards and scored eight more touchdowns as a receiver.

14. Harlem Berry, Running Back

Height/Weight: 5'11", 175 pounds

City, State (School): Metairie, Louisiana (St. Martin's Episcopal School)

1 Thing to Know: It doesn't get more explosive than the nation's top running back, who is a two-time 100-meter champion who committed to his home state LSU Tigers during the Under Armor All-American Bowl. According to Crescent City Sports, he accounted for 2,481 yards from scrimmage, averaged 13.2 yards per carry and scored 45 times last year. He has more than 7,000 yards and 114 touchdowns in his career and will help spearhead a dynamic class for the Bayou Bengals.

13. George MacIntyre, Quarterback

Height/Weight: 6'5.5", 182 pounds

City, State (School): Brentwood, Tennessee (Brentwood Academy)

1 Thing to Know: George MacIntyre's grandfather (same name) was a legendary football coach for the Vanderbilt Commodores, taking the woebegone program to an 8-4 season in 1982. He coached there from 1979 to '85 and earned the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award, but his grandson is committed to the rival Tennessee Volunteers, where he will play for Josh Heupel's explosive offense.

12. Jaime Ffrench, Wide Receiver

Height/Weight: 6'1", 185 pounds

City, State (School): Jacksonville, Florida (Mandarin)

1 Thing to Know: Back when Nick Saban was at Alabama, Tuscaloosa was where Ffrench wanted to be. After decommitting following the coach's retirement, he has a new outlook. Now, it may be tough to keep him from staying close to home, despite teams like the Tide, Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee and others being after him. He told TheOsceola.com's Bob Ferrante that Florida State is in the lead, partly because of geography, and partly because his high school teammate and QB, Tramell Jones Jr., is committed there.

11. Zayden Walker, Linebacker

Height/Weight: 6'3", 220 pounds

City, State (School): Ellaville, Georgia (Schley County)

1 Thing to Know: Gridiron bloodlines run deep for Walker, who should be no stranger to the recruiting game by now. Though he will wind up being the highest-rated recruit in his family, he comes from a very talented household. His brother, Jalewis, is the No. 214-ranked player in the '24 class and signed with South Carolina. Another brother, Zykeivous, was the No. 91-ranked player in the '20 class and plays on the defensive line for Auburn.

10. DJ Pickett, Cornerback

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'2", 170 pounds

City, State (School): Tampa, Florida (Zephyrhills)

1 Thing to Know

Sticking with the "family ties" theme, like a lot of prospects out there, the nation's top-rated safety has a lot of football flowing through his veins. There are a lot of playmakers from DJ Pickett's family, and while that doesn't always matter, it can't hurt.

When you mention the Booker family, folks around college football (especially in Miami) know all about them.

Pickett's uncle Booker Pickett played for Miami in the '90s. His cousin, Booker Pickett Jr., is a 2024 Miami signee and No. 72-ranked player in the nation as an edge-rusher. His younger cousin, Canon, is a 2026 offensive line prospect who will be highly ranked.

His uncle Ryan was a defensive lineman at Ohio State who was selected 29th overall by the St. Louis Rams in 2001 and won a Super Bowl (XLV) with Green Bay.

9. Caleb Cunningham, Wide Receiver

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'3", 180 pounds

City, State (School): Ackerman, Mississippi (Choctaw County)

1 Thing to Know

If you want to go find the No. 2-ranked wide receiver prospect in the nation, you'd better have your magnifying glass on hand.

Whereas many of the top-tier talented prepsters head off to recruiting mills to play their high school football, elite pass-catcher Caleb Cunningham has coaches flocking to tiny Ackerman, Mississippi, population 1,594. It's about 25 miles southwest of Starkville.

Perhaps that's why the Mississippi State Bulldogs and new coach Jeff Lebby hold the early 247Sports Crystal Ball advantage for the 5-star recruit.

If the Bulldogs convince Cunningham to stay home, they'll have to battle. A "Who's Who" of colleges want him, and the Choctaw County High School playmaker just this week released a top 12 of Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma and Florida.

8. Devin Sanchez, Cornerback

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'2", 170 pounds

City, State (School): Houston, Texas (North Shore)

1 Thing to Know

There are a lot of cool things about Devin Sanchez, and one of them is that he already has his mind set on college, becoming the latest in a long line of Ohio State conquests in the Lone Star State.

He has the potential to be part of the best defensive back class in the nation, as he isn't even the top-rated cornerback on this list who seems set on the Buckeyes.

The Houston product has athleticism flowing through his veins, and he has a UTEP Miner background. His mother, Deetra, was a UTEP sprinter, and his father, Daniel, played football for the Miners, as well.

He got his father's football acumen and his mother's sprinter speed. That's not a bad combo.

7. Julian Lewis, Quarterback

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'1", 185 pounds

City, State (School): Carrollton, Georgia (Carrollton)

1 Thing to Know:

Julian "JuJu" Lewis has been on the national radar for a long time, and the explosive statistics he has been putting up for powerhouse Carrollton (Ga.) High School has made him a coveted prospect.

The best news for college football fans is they won't have to wait long to watch him.

Originally slated to be a 2026 prospect, Lewis elected to reclassify to the '25 season, and though he has been committed to Lincoln Riley's USC Trojans since last year, it hasn't stopped other teams coming after him hot and heavy.

Of course, the biggest threat right now appears to be coach Kirby Smart's powerhouse, home-state Bulldogs, and Georgia recently got Lewis on campus. They will make it tough on USC to keep him in the fold, but this is going to be a fun recruiting battle to watch before he starts flinging darts on the football field.

6. Justus Terry, Defensive Lineman

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'5", 275 pounds

City, State (School): Manchester, Georgia (Manchester)

1 Thing to Know:

In case you haven't noticed, the 2025 class may be the most loaded and top-heavy group of prospects ever from the state of Georgia. The No. 6-ranked player on my list isn't even the top defensive lineman in the state.

That doesn't keep Justus Terry—already a Bulldogs pledge—from being an elite, explosive athlete who has one of the highest ceilings of any player on this list. He is one of the few who actually could contend for top-three status.

If you think maybe you've heard of Justus "Jay" Terry before, maybe you have. He had a post three years ago when he was in eighth grade that went viral and was posted by Sports Illustrated's Monday Morning Quarterback.

It's safe to say Terry has looked like he belonged in the top 10 future football stars for a long time.

5. Dakorien Moore, Wide Receiver

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 5'11", 175 pounds

City, State (School): Duncanville, Texas (Duncanville)

1 Thing to Know

When you look at LSU's impressive start to the 2025 recruiting class, it's the skill-position talent that is really next-level. If coach Brian Kelly can keep 5-star running back Harlem Berry and elite pass-catcher Dakorien Moore in the fold, it's going to be special.

Oh yeah, we haven't even gotten to the centerpiece yet. He will come later.

Moore isn't the most physically impressive prospect on the hoof, but when you put him in sessions against the best talent around, there just isn't anybody more explosive than him.

Moore is by far the biggest game-breaking runner, and Moore holds that mantle at receiver. The prospect hails from powerhouse Duncanville (Texas) High School, and teams from around the country are trying to get him to change his mind and not head to Baton Rouge.

At a recent seven-on-seven Miami event that featured loads of talent, Moore was the "Alpha Dog," so named by 247Sports' Director of Scouting Andrew Ivens. He's special.

4. Na'eem Offord, Cornerback

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'1", 185 pounds

City, State (School): Birmingham, Alabama (Parker)

1 Thing to Know

There are several things you need to know about dynamic cornerback Na'eem Offord, but the most impressive thing is that he is going to team with Devin Sanchez to give the Ohio State Buckeyes the nation's top two cornerbacks.

Coach Ryan Day has proved recently in recruiting high school and the transfer portal that he isn't playing, and the Buckeyes are vying to be the nation's top program once again.

Though their defense has been a downfall in recent years, it's improving tremendously with Jim Knowles at the helm, and getting a DB duo like this is what has been missing since Ohio State was churning out first-round talent from its secondary each year.

Something else worth noting? You don't just go into Alabama's backyard and nab a guy like Offord. Or, at least, you didn't during Nick Saban's tenure with his pedigree of developing defensive backs.

Offord is a superstar who could play as a true freshman.

3. Elijah Griffin, Defensive Lineman

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'5", 285 pounds

City, State (School): Savannah, Georgia (Savannah Christian Prep)

1 Thing to Know

The LSU Tigers have the nation's top class by a wide margin. The Ohio State Buckeyes are loading up with the top defensive back class early on. So, just watch out for the Georgia Bulldogs when it comes to securing the top defensive line class.

Already, UGA has Justus Terry in the fold, and he is a top-six player on this list. The nation's third-rated overall player (according to B/R, the 247Sports composite, and On3) is Savannah's Elijah Griffin, and he seems destined to be a Bulldog, at least right now.

Just recently, On3's Jake Rowe told Collin Ginnan that he believes the Dawgs are in "tremendous shape" to land Griffin, and he actually has the same comparison I saw when he watched him, which is former Auburn lineman and Georgia native Derrick Brown.

Griffin has a ton of raw ability and is just now beginning to scratch the surface of his massive potential. At 6'5", 285 pounds, he could actually gain 20-25 pounds and keep his explosiveness. Tons of upside here, and he may wind up in Athens.

That would be bad news for the rest of the SEC.

2. David Sanders Jr., Offensive Tackle

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'6", 270 pounds

City, State (School): Charlotte, North Carolina (Providence Day School)

1 Thing to Know

David Sanders Jr. is the most polished offensive tackle prospect to come out of high school in the past three years, and that includes Francis Mauigoa from the '24 class who had an exceptional freshman year for Miami.

There are lots of things to love about the long-armed, athletic Sanders, but one of the biggest things is his all-around exceptional makeup. He's simply a tremendous prospect who is also a tremendous kid who could be the face of a program.

Sanders preps at Charlotte's Providence Day School, where he was teammates with Michigan '24 quarterback signee Jadyn Davis last year. Davis won the Gatorade Player of the Year for North Carolina. The award honors each state's best overall player both on the field and in the classroom and community, and Sanders followed in his footsteps for the 2023-24 campaign.

According to the High School OT website, Sanders "is the head of the Providence Day School Student Diversity Club. The junior has volunteered for the Alexander Youth Network for Foster Children and the Grant Williams Family Foundation. Sanders has also served as a student intern with Novant Health Orthopedic Surgery."

1. Bryce Underwood, Quarterback

Credit: 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6'3.5", 205 pounds

City, State (School): Belleville, Michigan (Belleville)

1 Thing to Know

The thing you need to know about Bryce Underwood is that he has the most upside of any high school quarterback since Caleb Williams, and he has the skill set and all-around ability to be the biggest star in the sport for years to come.

That may sound like hyperbole, but the Michigan prep product has it all.

He already looks like a college upperclassman, and he threw for 3,329 yards with 44 touchdowns and just three interceptions last year. During his sophomore season, he ran for more than 600 yards, proving he can do it with his arm or his feet.

Underwood is polished as the nation's top-ranked overall prospect, and he chose LSU over Michigan, Colorado and Alabama. You'd better believe others are going to come after him considering how far Baton Rouge is from Belleville, but he seems set on heading to the SEC for now.

This is the type of player you label a "can't-miss" quarterback.
