NBA Rumors: Mikal Bridges Traded to Knicks; Bojan Bogdanović, Draft Picks to Nets

Mikal Bridges is on the move.

The Brooklyn Nets are trading the 27-year-old to the New York Knicks in exchange for Bojan Bogdanović, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Both teams swapped draft capital in the trade, Wojnarowski reported.

Bridges was among the hottest names on the trade market this past winter, though Brooklyn dealing him comes as somewhat of a surprise after Wojnarowski reported in January that he believed the franchise's intent was to build around the rising star.

The Nets initially acquired Bridges during the 2022-23 season in the deal that sent Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns. He quickly emerged as an impact player, averaging 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 27 games while shooting 47.5 percent from the floor and 37.6 percent from deep.

He put together another strong season this past year, averaging 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 82 games while shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Despite his best efforts, the Nets struggled to a 32-50 record and an 11th-place finish in the Eastern Conference.

Bridges will now become part of a postseason contender at Madison Square Garden, where he will join former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo.

The Knicks will hope to build on that Wildcats chemistry as they look to make a deeper playoff run next season.

Brunson and Hart helped power the Knicks to a 50-win regular season but could not lead the team past a second-round matchup with the Indiana Pacers as injuries tested the roster's depth.

Bridges can bring secondary scoring that will help deepen the Knicks lineup. If New York is able to re-sign OG Anunoby, the team could return with a new and improved makeup for a potential title run in 2025.
