OVERALL

Daijun Edwards is a change-of-pace back with enough juice to stick around in the NFL.

Edwards does his best work in space. Whether on the edge or at the second level, he shows impressive burst and acceleration. He can make tackling angles go away in a hurry if defenders aren't careful.

Likewise, Edwards has the agility and lateral explosiveness to make defenders miss in space. He is not elite in that area, but he's definitely good enough to wiggle out to a few extra yards here and there.

However, Edwards isn't a very fast runner. He can tear in the first 10 yards or so, but he tops out quickly. Edwards doesn't have that breakaway gear to threaten huge runs. Even 20-yard gains are rare for him.

Edwards also lacks the decisiveness and lower-body strength to work well between the tackles. He's the type of back who waits too long for the cleanest lane possible to open up, rather than plunging into imperfect situations and making the most of them. Edwards also lacks power and balance, meaning he goes down on first contact quite often without being able to fall forward for extra yards.

On third downs, Edwards clears the bar. He's a useful pass-catcher, though mostly just on checkdowns. Edwards' pass protection needs work when it comes to his vision and gap discipline, but he displays surprising strength and good effort to stick on blocks when he is in the right position.

Edwards projects as a backup in the NFL. He lacks the size, strength and decisiveness to command a full-time role. However, Edwards' agility, short-area burst and baseline pass-catching skills should make him a useful rotational player.
