While Jim Harbaugh appears to be the frontrunner for the Los Angeles Chargers head coaching job, it appears one candidate is hoping to vault himself into consideration.

Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll "is making a behind-the-scenes push for consideration" to be the Bolts' next head coach, according to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio.

The Seahawks announced earlier this month that Carroll was out as head coach after 14 seasons, 10 playoff appearances and one Super Bowl title.

However, Seattle also revealed at the time that Carroll would remain with the franchise in an unspecified advisory role moving forward.

Seahawks owner Jody Allen said in a statement at the time that the team made the decision "after thoughtful meetings and careful consideration for the best interest of the franchise."

Carroll led the Seahawks to a 137-89-1 record, five NFC West titles, two NFC championships and a Super Bowl title in 2014 during his tenure. He is also the winningest coach in Seattle history.

It's no surprise Carroll is interested in coaching the Chargers. His friend and recording artist Snoop Dogg revealed to Fox Sports that the former Seahawks head coach "wanted to go to the Chargers."

"That's what he wanted," Snoop said. "But I don't know if they want him."

The 72-year-old also indicated earlier this month that he would be open to continuing his coaching career.

"I don't know. I've got plenty of energy for it and thought and willingness but I can't imagine that there's a place that's the right one," Carroll said when asked if he will coach again per Maura Dooley of Seattle Sports. "I don't know. I'm open to everything but I'm not holding my breath on that."

The Chargers have interviewed several candidates, but Carroll is not one of them.

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel are among those to have interviewed for the position.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Chargers and Harbaugh are in "striking distance" of a deal to make him the next head coach, so it seems like Carroll landing the job is a long shot.
