Giannis: 'S--t, I'd Boo Myself' After Hearing It from Bucks Fans During Loss to Jazz

Fans booed the Milwaukee Bucks off the floor as they lost for the fourth time in five games Monday night against the Utah Jazz.

Giannis Antetokounmpo doesn't blame them.

"I think we have great fans, but around the league, if you don't play hard and don't give everything for the team, there are times where you might get booed...S--t, I'd boo myself tonight too," Antetokounmpo told reporters after the 132-116 loss to the Jazz.

Utah has won eight of its last 10 games to turn around an ugly start to the season, but there is still little excuse for a championship contender like Milwaukee to get blown out on its own floor. The Bucks played almost nonexistent defense as the Jazz knocked down 20 three-point attempts and shot 52.2 percent from the floor overall.

Disappointing defensive efforts have become a recent hallmark for this Bucks team, leading to increasing frustration from Antetokounmpo. The two-time MVP has ripped his team's effort in the media now in consecutive games.

"Offense is gonna be there some nights, and some nights, it's not going to be there," Antetokounmpo told reporters after Saturday's loss to the Houston Rockets. "Your defensive effort, though, has got to be there. And defensively, our effort wasn't there. There was no pride.

"Guys were just driving the ball, straight line l drive, getting to the paint, overhelping, shooting threes, and offensive rebounds. There was nothing. This wasn't the Milwaukee Bucks. This is not who we are."

The Bucks currently sit 25-12 and have the NBA's fifth-best record, so it's not as if it's time to press the panic button. That said, they've fallen to 3.5 games behind the Boston Celtics for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and are only one game better through 37 games than they were a year ago.

Given the high-profile acquisition of Damian Lillard and hiring of coach Adrian Griffin, it's fair to say Antetokounmpo was expecting better as we reach the season's midpoint.
