Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua continued his sensational rookie season on Sunday by breaking a 63-year old record.
Nacua secured a catch in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers to break the rookie receiving yards record with 1,486 yards this season.
The previous record was held by Bill Groman, who recorded 1,473 in 1960. On the same drive, Nacua also broke the rookie receptions record with 105, snapping Jaylen Waddle's 2021 record.
Nacua was a fifth-round pick out of BYU in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he's quickly proved his worth. Along with his 1,486 receiving yards, he's also totaled five touchdowns this season. His record-setting season has made him one of the top candidates for Rookie of the Year along with Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud. Nacua also secured a Pro Bowl bid this season, making him one of just three rookies playing in the game.
Nacua has been the best rookie receiver this season and the race is not very close. The closest rookie to Nacua in receiving yards is Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, who has 938 yards on the year.
Nacua has been a huge part of the Rams' offense this season, and they're looking to rely on him even more heading into the postseason, where they have already clinched a wild card berth.
