Zach LaVine Addresses Bulls Trade Rumors amid Lakers, 76ers Buzz: It's 'a Business'

Chicago Bulls veteran Zach LaVine isn't getting caught up in the trade rumors amid reports linking him to the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers, among others.

"This is a business, man," LaVine said of the trade rumors, per K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. "We've dealt with a lot more than people talking in the media. There's been a lot more than that. Obviously, there was some news in the media. But we're grown men. We're a professional business. We know how to handle that."

LaVine added when asked if he wants to play elsewhere:

"If we need to talk about that at a time, you know … right now is not that time to really talk about that. Play the Orlando Magic (Wednesday), try and get a win. If something comes obviously out later on that will be the time I talk about it.
"I mean, I think it's a combination of things where if you're in a losing situation or a place you're not winning games, people are frustrated. From players to the front office, the coaches … we're not happy because we're not winning. It's not a bad thing, but it's just the nature of the business. More things come up when you're not in a winning environment."

The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Tuesday that LaVine and the Bulls have "increased openness" about exploring a trade this season. He added that NBA teams "are probing the availability" of the veteran guard.

Additionally, Charania reported on The Rally that the Lakers, 76ers and Miami Heat all have a "level of interest" in acquiring LaVine.

LaVine has been included in trade rumors since before the 2023-24 season began. K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reported that the Bulls held "exploratory talks" involving the veteran during the offseason.

Trade rumors surrounding LaVine have picked up this week with the Bulls off to a rough start to the 2023-24 season. Chicago sits 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 4-7 record entering Wednesday's matchup against the Orlando Magic.

Johnson reported on Tuesday that "players are very aware change could be afoot if matters don't improve," and The Athletic's Darnell Mayberry added that the Bulls "won't have the same roster in a month. Change feels imminent in Chicago."

The 76ers have been linked to LaVine since they sent James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers.

However, John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reported Tuesday that while Philadelphia "will look into" acquiring the 28-year-old, the franchise is "happy with the way the team is playing right now and would probably lean towards waiting until the trade deadline for a big trade to see if there are any needs or injury issues."

LaVine, who played college basketball at UCLA, has been linked to the Lakers dating back to the 2022-23 season.

"LaVine wants to go to the Lakers, that has been pretty clear for a while now. The agents (from Klutch Sports) want him to be in Los Angeles, he is a UCLA guy and they did some rattling about his contract last offseason, to kind of lay the groundwork if things blew up. Which they seem to be doing," an Eastern Conference executive told Heavy Sports in December 2022.

If traded to Los Angeles, LaVine would join a star-studded lineup that includes LeBron James, Anthony Davis and D'Angelo Russell.

As for the Heat, Miami could use an additional star in a lineup that includes Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo to better contend for a title in the Eastern Conference alongside the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.

LaVine would be a solid addition to any title contender as he's averaging 21.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 11 games while shooting 40.9 percent from the floor and 30.9 percent from deep.
