Marseille striker Loic Remy is a tremendous attacking player that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger must make a move for in the open transfer window.

Wenger has had previous interest in the Frenchman, who has excelled for club and country over the past few seasons.

Remy is a proven goal scorer who has risen his scoring total in Ligue 1 each of the past three seasons. This season he leads Marseille with six league goals, and began the club's remarkable comeback from 2-0 when he scored the first goal in a 3-2 victory against Borussia Dortmund in the final Champions League group stage match.

The Gunners must bring in a player who can take some of the goal scoring burden off of striker Robin van Persie, who leads the Premier League with 17 goals this year. No one else for Arsenal has scored more than four league goals this season.

When van Persie doesn't score, Arsenal has a tough time finding scoring. With forwards Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh set to leave the club in January to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations, Wenger will not have the attacking depth he needs to win important matches.

Arsenal has not scored more than two goals in each of their last six league matches, and unless they buy a talented goal scorer in the transfer window, they will continue to drop crucial points and be in danger failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Remy would not just be a quick fix for January or the rest of this season. At 25 years old, he still has not yet entered the prime of his career.

The Frenchman has great speed and dribbles the ball very well, even with several defenders around him. In front of goal he is very accurate, and has good composure in goal-scoring opportunities.

Many have compared him to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry when mentioning Remy's ability to make fantastic runs with the ball and finishing by dribbling past defenders and scoring.

Wenger even compared Remy to Henry himself. "Remy improves all the time," Wenger said. "Reminds me of a young Thierry: his runs and the speed at which he plays"

With Remy excelling with Marseille, he has been a regular in Laurent Blanc's French national team that has been playing well in recent months and qualified for the European Championships next summer.

During France's November 11 friendly against the United States at the Stade de France, Remy came on as a substitute and scored the only goal of the match.

His energy and attacking talent changes matches, and Arsenal need someone who can finish scoring chances.

The Gunners rely too much on Van Persie, and with players leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations, plus a number of attacking players underperforming, Wenger must spend in the transfer market.

Remy won't cost a record transfer fee, and he isn't a cheap fix. He's a long-term option at striker who will pay huge dividends now and many years into the future.
