NFL's Calais Campbell Spends $200K-$300K on His Body After Studying Tom Brady, LeBron

Calais Campbell is 37 years old and in his 16th NFL season, offering him rare longevity for a non-quarterback in the physically demanding NFL.

That isn't by accident. As Campbell told Peter King of Pro Football Talk, he's invested a lot of money in keeping his body healthy throughout the years:

"I remember studying Tom Brady and the greats in this league. I was like, 'Maybe I should try what they're doing too.' I ended up getting with a nutritionist and a chef, learning how to take care of my body. I know Tom's one of the best examples because he's written books and talked about it a lot. Same thing with basketball and LeBron James. I spend $200,000, $300,000 a year on my body with specialists coming in to work on me."

The result has been a career that has included six Pro Bowl selections, a first-team All-Pro bid in 2017 and 101 career sacks, the 37th most in NFL history. He's been solid for the Atlanta Falcons in 2023, posting 24 tackles (two for loss), two sacks, six quarterback hits and a forced fumble in seven games.

That fact that he's even still playing, let alone having an impact, likely comes down to his health regimen.

"Why not give your body the best opportunity you can?" Campbell noted. "I don't know when the wheels are going to fall off, but I'm fighting Father Time as hard as I can, round by round. I'm trying to get another round in."
