Erin Walsh

The Memphis Grizzlies have announced star Ja Morant will miss the rest of the season after suffering a labral tear in his right shoulder.

Morant took to X to comment on the injury:

The 24-year-old has been an anchor in the Memphis lineup since being selected second overall in the 2019 draft. In 61 regular-season games last season, he averaged 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 8.1 assists while shooting 46.6 percent from the floor and 30.7 percent from deep.

However, Morant was suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season after being shown on video with a gun for the second time in a two-month span, and Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose filled in during his absence.

The Murray State product played in just nine games this season.

The Grizzlies are 13th in the Western Conference with a 13-23 record.
