Peter King: Lamar Jackson Got 'Tepid Interest' from 1 NFL Team in Ravens Trade Talks

The Baltimore Ravens reportedly aren't getting the interest they are hoping for in Lamar Jackson trade discussions.

Peter King of NBC Sports (8:10 mark) reported the AFC North team "did not get to first base with anybody" in discussions about the quarterback, adding "there was, what I would call from one team, tepid interest."

King said the coach of that one team instead pointed out, "I am focused on a new quarterback, a drafted quarterback."

The Jackson situation has been under the spotlight throughout the offseason, but it took center stage Monday when he tweeted that he requested a trade on March 2.

He said Baltimore "has not been interested in meeting my value," which meant he "had to make a business decision that was best for my family and I."

The Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on the Louisville product this offseason, which gave him the ability to negotiate with other teams. However, the AFC North team also holds the right to match any offers and would receive two first-round picks in return if it didn't.

While Jackson has a league MVP on his resume, it didn't take long after the Ravens used the non-exclusive tag for reports to come out that multiple teams were not interested in the quarterback.

King's report is just the latest example of a somewhat surprising reality given the 26-year-old's age and status as one of the league's best quarterbacks.

He is someone who can hurt opposing defenses with his legs and arm and could have a decade or more of prime production ahead of him if he can stay healthy.

For his part, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters: "That's the guy I want to see be our quarterback. That's my guy. We made a decision to go with Lamar Jackson five years ago. Why? Because we love him. We love the way he plays, we love his mindset, his charisma, his style—everything about him we love."

It didn't sound like Harbaugh wanted the team to trade Jackson, and there might not be much interest around the league.

That means a resolution may not be coming in the near future.
