The PGA Tour's World Wide Technology Championship officially has a new home.

The PGA Tour announced Tuesday that the tournament will move to El Cardonal Golf Course at Diamante Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, which was designed by five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods, per ESPN.

El Cardonal opened in 2014. Woods' TGR Design website says of the 18-hole, par-72 course:

"The design of El Cardonal was inspired by the classic Golden Age courses of the West Coast that Tiger played growing up. Tiger created a golf course that brings back strategy—there are typically several options for navigating each hole, and proper strategic decision-making is rewarded.

"The existing arroyos and native dunes that traverse the site, along with well-placed fairway bunkers, provide ample risk-reward opportunities off the tees. Natural, irregular contours on the fairways, along with high-faced, greenside bunkers, further enhance the course's old-style look and feel.

"With dramatic long-range views of the Pacific Ocean, this championship course offers wide landing areas that provide different angles and options to approach the greens, while promoting playability for golfers of all skill levels. The result is a memorable and enjoyable golf experience, where golfers that can weigh risk and make sound decisions will have the best opportunities to score."

The PGA Tour has not announced a specific date for the World Wide Technology Championship, though it will occur this fall and feature 132 golfers vying for 500 FedExCup points. It is one of two FedEx Cup events in Mexico, the other being the Mexico Open at Vidanta.

The PGA Tour has held tournaments in Mexico every year since 2007.

The tournament was previously held at El Camaleón Mayakoba Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. After 16 years of hosting the event, the course made the switch to LIV Golf and hosted its first tournament of the 2023 season in February.

The switch didn't come as much of a surprise as LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman designed the course.

Russell Henley was the last PGA Tour member to win the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba in November 2022, edging Brian Harman.

The PGA Tour's next event, the Valero Texas Open, is being held at TPC San Antonio from March 30 through April 2. The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club is set for April 6-9.
