Heat's Kyle Lowry Reportedly Hopes to Return from Knee Injury by End of February

More reinforcements could soon be on the way for the Miami Heat as guard Kyle Lowry is hoping to return to action by the end of the month, according to a report by Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press.

The six-time All-Star has missed the last six games with knee soreness. His return will be a much-needed boost for a Heat team that is already thin at the guard positions.

Miami is also reportedly set to sign power forward Kevin Love after he clears wavers, and the team is also nearing a deal with Cody Zeller in an attempt to bolster its front line.

Lowry, 36, has struggled mightily at times during his second season in South Beach. He is averaging just 12.0 points per game to go along with 5.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds. His three-point shooting has also fallen off this year, as he's knocking down 33.3 percent of his shots from beyond the arc, the lowest mark of his career since the 2009-10 season.

Ahead of the trade deadline, Lowry's name was floated around in trade rumors after his slow first half, but he ultimately ended up staying put with the Heat. Lowry first arrived in Miami after being dealt there in a sign-and-trade from Toronto during the 2021 offseason.

While it's unclear how long or to what extent the knee soreness has affected Lowry's play, Reynolds' report indicates that the time off must have helped improve the situation quicker than anticipated.

Heat fans will hope that Lowry improves upon his return, as the team currently sits in the seventh seed in the East, half a game behind the New York Knicks.
