Golden Boy Promotions chairman Oscar De La Hoya has his sights set on signing Terence Crawford. And one of his selling points appears to be getting Crawford a matchup with Errol Spence Jr.

"Future plans for Terence Crawford," he told DAZN's Chris Mannix on Saturday (h/t Jake Donovan of Boxing Scene). "He wants to fight the big fights, against Errol Spence. I told him, 'We can make that fight happen. Ryan Garcia vs. Tank Davis is going to open a lot of doors for us that will lead to us doing business with PBC [Premier Boxing Champions]."

"I told Crawford, 'Let us present to you a schedule of fights leading up to Spence,'" he continued. "I have all the confidence in the world that Crawford vs. Spence will happen."

Crawford (39-0) is the current WBO welterweight champion. The 35-year-old is currently a free agent and has filed a lawsuit against his former promotor, Top Rank, seeking damages of $5.4 million after claiming the promoter cost him earnings by failing to secure him several fights. One of the fights he argued that Top Rank didn't secure with him was a matchup with Spence.

He also accused Top Rank CEO Bob Arum of racial bias, saying the prominent figure in the boxing world "continues to make racist and bigoted statements and purposefully damage the reputations of Black boxers." He also said that Arum's "sordid history with athletes of color, especially Black fighters, and his bias favoring white and Latino fighters is well-documented and known throughout the boxing world."

Arum called the lawsuit "frivolous" and said the accusations of racism were "reckless and indefensible."

Spence, 32, is likewise undefeated in his career (28-0), and a matchup with Crawford would be nothing short of a superfight. Negotiations have taken place in the past, only to fall apart.

If Crawford-Spence isn't in the cards, De La Hoya envisioned a matchup between Crawford and 25-year-old budding star Alexis Rocha (22-1), who is signed to Golden Boy.

"We did discuss a Rocha fight," he told Mannix. "I think it's a big possibility. He's No. 3 in the world. Rocha vs. Crawford, who knows?"
