Report: Ravens, Commanders Eye Chiefs' Eric Bieniemy for OC Job amid Colts HC Buzz

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will attempt to help lead his team to a Super Bowl on Sunday, but he will reportedly be in high demand once the offseason begins.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens requested to interview him for their offensive coordinator position. He also "remains under consideration" for the offensive coordinator position with the Tennessee Titans and the head coaching vacancy for the Indianapolis Colts.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Washington Commanders haven't filled their offensive coordinator opening in part because they requested to interview Bieniemy.

Bieniemy has seemingly become a notable candidate for coaching vacancies every offseason following the success he helped establish in Kansas City.

He was previously on staffs for Colorado and UCLA in the college ranks and the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL, but his time with the Chiefs stands out the most. He was their running backs coach from 2013 through 2017 and has been the offensive coordinator since 2018.

All the team has done is reach at least the AFC Championship Game in each of his five seasons as the offensive coordinator. They have the opportunity to advance to the Super Bowl for the third time during that span with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

The 2019 Chiefs won the Lombardi Trophy.

Bieniemy's time as OC overlaps with Patrick Mahomes' time as quarterback, and the pair has helped orchestrate one of the best offenses in recent memory. There wasn't even a significant dropoff this season after Kansas City traded No. 1 wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.

That quarterback and offensive coordinator pairing are notable with the Ravens reportedly interested in Bieniemy.

Lamar Jackson's contract situation is still unclear since he is scheduled for free agency this offseason, but Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh told reporters the signal-caller will "be involved" in the search for the next OC.

"This is going to be a highly sought-after job; this is one of the top football coaching jobs in the world," Harbaugh said. "Everybody's going to want this job."

Perhaps the opportunity to work with Jackson will appeal to Bieniemy, but he will have no shortage of options once the Chiefs' season is over.
