Teenager Pleads Guilty to Shooting Commanders' Brian Robinson Twice During Carjacking

A teenage boy pleaded guilty this week to shooting Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson during an August carjacking.

According to ProFootballTalk's Michael David Smith, the boy was 14 at the time of the shooting and has since turned 15. He admitted to shooting Robinson once in the knee and once in the hip while Robinson struggled with a 17-year-old accomplice.

The boy also pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 15-year-old Andre Robertson, which occurred just weeks after he shot Robinson.

The boy's name has not been released since he is a minor, and he is currently in custody of the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services ahead of his March 8 sentencing.

Washington selected Robinson in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft, and he was trending toward beginning the year as the Commanders' starting running back following an excellent preseason performance.

The shooting caused Robinson to miss the start of the season, but he avoided serious injury and managed to make his debut in Week 5.

As the season went on, Robinson did indeed establish himself as Washington's No. 1 back, finishing his rookie campaign with 797 yards and two touchdowns on 205 carries, as well as nine receptions for 60 yards and a score.

It was a remarkable feat, as Robinson missed only one game after returning and had 20 or more carries in five games.

Now that Robinson is fully healthy, he has a strong chance of reaching the 1,000-yard mark if he can stay on the field.

Robinson, Gibson and J.D. McKissic are all under contract for next season, meaning the Commanders may essentially have the same running back room as they had in 2022.

Also, 2022 fifth-round draft pick Sam Howell may be in line to start at quarterback next season, placing even more emphasis on Robinson and the running game.
