Fantasy Football Big Board: Complete PPR Player Rankings for Week 13

Gary Davenport

The number 13 has long had a reputation for being unlucky. More than a few fantasy managers are banking on that being a myth.

We have hit the point in the season where the next loss could be the last one—at least the last one that matters.

Sure, some fantasy managers have already sewn up playoff spots. Maybe they've even earned a first-round bye. Others still aren't locked in yet, but there's some wiggle room—defeat would be unfortunate but not the end of the world.

But for many, getting into the playoffs means no more losses. Not one. Wins continue the season. Losses end it.

There's precious little margin for error. Lineups must be maximized. The right choices must be made.

We're here to help you make them, with position-by-position PPR rankings and some matchups to target and avoid.

Now let's make our own luck.

Quarterbacks

Mitchell Leff/Getty Images

There has long been a school of thought in fantasy football that mobile quarterbacks make for preferable fantasy options.

There's good reason for that belief—it's true.

The top fantasy quarterback of 2022 after 12 weeks (Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs) doesn't rack up a ton of rushing yards—he's eighth with 274. But work past him on the list of top fantasy scorers and it's all about the runners.

Josh Allen of the Bills (No. 2) is fourth among quarterbacks with 561 rushing yards. Jalen Hurts of the Eagles (No. 3) is third with 600. Lamar Jackson of the Ravens (No. 5) is second with 755. Justin Fields (No. 6) leads all quarterbacks with 834 yards.

It's simple, really. Allen has averaged 51 rushing yards a game in 2022. That's five fantasy points before he ever throws a pass. Rushing touchdowns are also worth more than passing touchdowns in many leagues.

This doesn't mean that pocket passers can't be elite fantasy options. But it's easier for scramblers to post fat stat lines.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. KC) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,900)

There's a pretty good chance that Ja'Marr Chase will be back in Week 13, and his return couldn't come at a better time for Burrow. This game has quite a bit of shootout potential, and Kansas City has been a top-10 fantasy matchup for opposing quarterbacks this season.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars (at DET) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900)

Lawrence is coming off arguably the best start of his NFL career—a 78.4 completion percentage, 321 passing yards and three scores against the Ravens. Now Lawrence and the Jaguars face a Detroit Lions defense that ranks 29th in the NFL against the pass.

BAD MATCHUPS

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins (at SF) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,700)

Tagovailoa has been solid for fantasy managers in 2022, checking in ninth in fantasy points per game at the position. But he's coming off a QB17 finish in Week 12, draws a tough matchup with the 49ers and will be without Pro Bowl left tackle Terron Armstead.

Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns (at HOU) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,500)

Fantasy managers who held on to Watson throughout his suspension are no doubt eager to see him finally take the field. But we're talking about a player who hasn't played a down of football that counts in almost two years playing in a surprisingly bad fantasy matchup for his position.

SLEEPER

Mike White, New York Jets (at MIN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,400)

It's Mike White's world, and the rest of us are just living in it. The second-year pro isn't going to top 300 passing yards or throw three touchdown passes every week, but the Vikings have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks in 2022.

Running Backs

Steph Chambers/Getty Images

Fantasy managers were thrown for a loop late last week when Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs popped up on the injury report Friday with a calf issue. Late-week injury adds for players playing in the late window are a disquieting development.

Well, sometimes they are. In this case, fantasy managers who gambled that Jacobs would not only play but be 100 percent (or relatively close) were rewarded—handsomely.

When Jacobs galloped into the end zone for an 86-yard walk-off touchdown in overtime of Sunday's win over the Seattle Seahawks, it put the capper on the best day any running back for the Raiders has ever had. Jacobs carried the ball 33 times for 229 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught six passes for 74 more yards. The 229 rushing yards and 303 scrimmage yards were both franchise records.

All told, Jacobs piled up a staggering 48.3 PPR points in the game, and for the season, only Austin Ekeler of the Chargers has amassed more fantasy points in a single outing.

And with Jacobs about to play a Chargers run defense allowing over 150 yards per game, another fat stat line is likely on the way in Week 13.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers (at CHI) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,700)

Given Aaron Rodgers' uncertain status for Week 13, the Packers may be forced to rely that much more on Jones and A.J. Dillon. The Bears have struggled stopping the run, surrendering the sixth-most PPR points per game to running backs this season.

Dameon Pierce. Houston Texans (vs. HOU) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900)

Pierce has been dreadful the past two weeks, gaining just 16 yards on 15 carries against loaded boxes as Houston's opponents dare them to throw the ball. The Browns haven't been good against the run this year—if Pierce can't get going this week against Cleveland, his days as a fantasy starter are over.

BAD MATCHUPS

Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. TEN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,300)

Sanders was great last week against the Packers, amassing a whopping 160 total yards and a pair of touchdowns. It's not going to be easy to back those numbers up against the Titans, who rank third in the league in run defense at 84.5 yards per game.

Jeff Wilson Jr., Miami Dolphins (at SF) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100)

Wilson had the Miami backfield to himself last week, but he managed just 52 yards on 14 touches in a gravy matchup with the Texans. This week's tilt with the 49ers is anything but gravy—San Francisco leads the league in run defense at 79.5 yards allowed per game.

SLEEPER

Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams (vs. SEA) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,200)

The ground game in Los Angeles has gone about as well as everything else—only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have averaged fewer rushing yards per game. But after watching Seattle get chewed to pieces by the Raiders, this week may be the exception to the woeful rule.

Wide Receivers

Mitchell Leff/Getty Images

For most of the 2022 season, the leaderboard at wide receiver has been dominated by the usual suspects. And, to an extent, Week 12 was no different—Justin Jefferson of the Vikings paved the way with 29.3 PPR points.

However, there were some new faces—or at least young faces.

After vanishing for much of the season into the fog of Zach Wilson's badness, Garrett Wilson of the Jets was the main beneficiary of Mike White's installation at quarterback, catching five passes for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Chicago Bears. Fellow rookie Christian Watson of the Packers had a solid game as well, catching four passes for 110 yards and a touchdown.

It was Garrett Wilson's first big game in a while, but Watson has been on quite the hot streak—the second-round pick from North Dakota State has topped 20 PPR points in three straight games and leads all NFC wide receivers in fantasy points over that span.

This week, Watson and the Packers face the same banged-up Bears secondary that Garrett Wilson and the Jets just torched.

Who's up for a fourth big stat line in a row?

GOOD MATCHUPS

Christian Kirk, Jacksonville Jaguars (at DET) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,300)

Kirk was relatively quiet last week in a game in which Zay Jones blew up. But Jacksonville's No 1 receiver should rebound in Week 13—the Lions are 29th in pass defense and have allowed the third-most PPR points per game to receivers this season.

DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks (at LAR) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,700)

In recent weeks, it has been Metcalf who has emerged as Geno Smith's top target for the Seahawks. Meanwhile, Jalen Ramsey and the Rams defense has struggled, surrendering the ninth-most PPR points per game to wideouts.

BAD MATCHUPS

Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns (at HOU) (DraftKings DFS Value: 6,400)

Cooper has been great in his first season in Cleveland—he's eighth among wide receivers in PPR points for the year. But the arrival of Deshaun Watson adds uncertainty to the Browns passing game in the short-term, and the Texans have been a surprisingly poor fantasy matchup for receivers in 2022.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders (at NYG) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,800)

Taylor Heinicke has helped McLaurin's fantasy production. But the former Ohio State standout has posted single-digit PPR points in back-to-back games, and he faces a Giants team allowing the fourth-fewest PPR points per game to wide receivers this season.

SLEEPER

Elijah Moore, New York Jets (at MIN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,700)

Moore only caught two passes last week on two targets, but one was a 22-yard touchdown, and he topped 14 PPR points. Talent was never the issue with the second-year pro, and now he takes on a Vikings defense that has surrendered the fifth-most PPR points per game to wide receivers.

WEEK 13 WIDE RECEIVER RANKINGS

Tight Ends

David Berding/Getty Images

There's no question who the king of the tight ends is in 2022. If I have to tell you it's Kansas City's Travis Kelce, then you haven't been paying attention. There is no question who the No. 2 tight end is, either—Mark Andrews of the Ravens is locked into that spot.

For most of the 2022 season, Zach Ertz of the Cardinals was fantasy's third-ranked tight end. But after suffering a season-ending injury, Ertz is out—and T.J. Hockenson of the Minnesota Vikings is in.

It has been an eventful season for Hockenson—he started the season in Detroit, where he was mostly irrelevant outside one huge game in Week 4. But since being traded to the Vikings at the deadline, Hockenson has been much more consistent.

Since Week 8, Hockenson has posted four double-digit fantasy outings in five games. Over that five-week span, only Kelce and Chicago's Cole Kmet have more PPR points—and Kmet has been much more feast-or-famine.

If you were patient with Hockenson during the lean times, that patience has been rewarded.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers (at LV) (DraftKings DFS Value: $4,400)

Everett hasn't had double-digit PPR points in a game since Week 7. But this week's trip to Las Vegas sets up as a potential slump-buster—the Raiders have allowed the seventh-most PPR points per game to tight ends in 2022.

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (vs. SEA) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,700)

Higbee's Week 12 doughnut and Matthew Stafford's iffy (at best) status for Week 13 makes trusting Higbee in fantasy an admittedly risky proposition. But the Seahawks have been a consistently outstanding matchup for tight ends this season.

BAD MATCHJUPS

Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins (at SF) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,300)

Last week's goose egg against the Texans was the continuation of a prolonged funk for Gesicki—he has just three catches for 34 yards over the past three games combined. The 49ers have allowed the third-fewest PPR points per game to tight ends this season.

Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears (vs. GB) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,800)

Kmet has posted a couple of big games over the past month or so. But those outbursts came with Justin Fields under center. Between the uncertainty surrounding Fields' shoulder and a bad fantasy matchup with the Packers, the proverbial chips are stacked against Kmet in Week 13.

SLEEPER

Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (at MIN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,100)

Like most of the Jets pass-catchers, Conklin benefitted from the arrival of Mike White last week, reeling in three passes for 50 yards against the Bears. He's back on the streaming radar ahead of a matchup with a Vikings team giving up the ninth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends.

WEEK 13 TIGHT END RANKINGS

1. Travis Kelce, KC (at CIN)

2. Mark Andrews, BAL (vs. DEN)

3. George Kittle, SF (vs. MIA)

4. T.J. Hockenson, MIN (vs. NYJ)

5. Dalton Schultz, DAL (vs. IND)

6. Pat Freiermuth, PIT (at ATL)

Kickers and Defenses

Jason Miller/Getty Images

By and large, the top-10 for the season among fantasy defenses is a list of teams one would expect to be listed among the top-10 defenses. But there's one team that is particularly surprising—especially when you consider how their season started.

Over the first eight weeks of the 2022 season, the Washington Commanders were a .500 team. But the defense was nothing to write home about from a fantasy perspective—25th in points.

However, as the Commanders have taken off on their recent hot streak, the defense has also picked up the pace. Not only is Washington the highest-scoring defense in fantasy over the last month, but the Commanders are No. 1 by a fair margin.

It has happened quietly, but the Commanders are eighth in the NFL in total defense, 10th against the pass, eighth against the run and 10th in scoring defense. The team's big-play numbers are mostly average, but when the Commanders have forced turnovers, it has been at opportune times.

The New York Giants are a 7-4 team, but they haven't been a bad fantasy matchup—12th in points per game allowed to defenses. If you have been riding fantasy's hottest defense these past few weeks, then there's no reason to stop.

If you haven't, saddle up.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Ryan Succop, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. NO)

The Tampa offense has had its share of struggles this season, but Succop has spent the year safely entrenched among the top-10 fantasy kickers. He should be a fine start Monday night against a Saints team allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to kickers.

Cleveland Browns Defense (at HOU) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,900)

The Browns aren't an especially good defensive team, but this week they don't have to be. The Texans are dead last in total offense, 31st in scoring offense and third in fantasy points per game allowed to defenses. Other than that, they're OK.

BAD MATCHUPS

Jake Elliott, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. TEN)

The Eagles have one of the NFL's most potent offenses, so it stands to reason that Elliott would see no shortage of scoring opportunities. The problem is that far too many of those opportunities are extra points instead of field goals—sometimes an offense can be too good.

Denver Broncos Defense (at BAL) (DraftKings DFS Value: $2,400)

The struggles of the Broncos in 2022 certainly haven't been the fault of Denver's AFC-best defense. But that defense is starting to show cracks ahead of a matchup with a Ravens team giving up the third-fewest fantasy points per game to defenses.

SLEEPER

Green Bay Packers Defense (at CHI) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,000)

When last we saw the Packers, they were getting a 40-burger dropped on them by the Eagles in Philadelphia. But the Packers aren't playing the Eagles this week—they take on a Bears team that will likely be led by Trevor "Not Justin Fields" Siemian.

WEEK 13 KICKER RANKINGS

Top 100 Overall/"Flex" Rankings

Mitchell Leff/Getty Images

Before we unveil the top 100 players overall for Week 13, it's time for the weekly disclaimer and friendly bit of analyst's advice.

The disclaimer is the same as every other week—quarterbacks are not included in this list. If your fantasy league utilizes a "superflex" spot, that spot should generally be occupied by a quarterback. As a rule, they score more and do so more consistently.

It goes without saying that if you have a chance to bask in the greatness that is Mike White, you gotta do it.

The bit of advice is this: Set the lineup you think will score the most points. It might seem simple, but it can't be overlooked in fantasy football. At this time of year, though, there are other considerations. For quite a few fantasy managers, one more loss means game over. No playoffs. Thanks for playing.

That makes this week's matchup a season unto itself. Losing isn't an option, so you should look at things a little differently. If you fashion yourself as the favorite, then choosing a high-floor option or two should lessen the chances of underperforming. If you're an underdog who needs every possible point, go with as many high-ceiling plays as you can cram into the lineup.

Losing by 50 and losing by five is essentially the same thing. All things being equal, I'd rather lose by 50.

Close calls are maddening.
