Yankees Rumors: Andrew Benintendi, Cody Bellinger, Michael Conforto In Touch With NYY

As they continue to wait for Aaron Judge's free agency to play out, the New York Yankees are also looking for additional reinforcements in the outfield for next season.

Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees have been in touch with representatives for multiple outfielders, including Andrew Benintendi, Michael Conforto, Cody Bellinger and Japanese star Masataka Yoshida.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters on Nov. 18 the team has made an updated offer to Judge after he rejected a seven-year, $213.5 million proposal before the start of the 2022 season.

"It's in real time, so we're on the clock," Cashman said. "We’re certainly not going to mess around."

Heyman did note the Yankees' offer to Judge is believed to be worth more than $300 million and they "feel pretty good" about their chances of retaining the 2022 AL MVP.

Per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Judge met with officials for the San Francisco Giants for two days this week, and he's expected to listen to other clubs, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, in the coming days.

Even if the Yankees retain Judge, they need to find at least one more starting outfielder. Harrison Bader, who was acquired in a midseason trade with the St. Louis Cardinals, could be the starter in center field.

Left field remains a question mark, with Aaron Hicks unlikely to be in the mix after a poor season.

Benintendi was supposed to be their answer after they acquired him from the Kansas City Royals, but his season ended Sept. 2 when a pitch broke his wrist. The 28-year-old hit .304/.373/.399 in 126 games with the Royals and Yankees last season.

Conforto and Bellinger are two players looking to rebuild their value in 2023. Conforto missed all of last season after he underwent shoulder surgery in April to repair an injury he suffered during the offseason while training.

Bellinger was non-tendered by the Dodgers after three consecutive seasons of poor play. The 27-year-old has fallen on hard times since his NL MVP season in 2019. He has a .203/.272/.376 slash line in 295 games since the start of 2020.

Scott Boras, Bellinger's agent, recently told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal that Bellinger will "most likely" pursue a one-year deal this offseason in an attempt to reestablish himself and hit the market again after the 2023 campaign.

Yoshida, 29, has been playing for the Orix Buffaloes in Nippon Professional Baseball since 2016. The four-time All-Star has a .327/.421/.539 slash line with 133 homers in 762 NPB games.

The Yankees won the AL East last season for the first time since 2019 with a 99-63 record. They advanced to the ALCS for the third time since 2017 but were swept out of the playoffs by the Houston Astros.
