Fantasy Football Week 11: Biggest Sleepers at Every Position

Maurice Moton

Heading into Week 11, there are a couple veteran wide receivers, including one who has flown under the radar over the past month, that fantasy football managers would be wise to pick up. Managers should also try to snag a late-round rookie running back whose team recently made a strong shift in his favor with its carry distribution.

All three players belong on your roster as short-term sleepers and long-term keepers.

This week's rookie running back option plays for an explosive offense, and though he doesn't provide value as a pass-catcher, his expanded workload suggests the team will use him on early downs and near the goal line.

While some of this week's sleepers may not have the most promising fantasy matchups, note that they could be in line for plenty of targets because of injuries within their team's pass-catching group.

Let's take a look at eight Week 11 sleeper options for point-per-reception scoring formats, starting with a couple of familiar faces at quarterback. All of the players suggested are available in at least 40 percent of Yahoo leagues.

QB Jimmy Garoppolo at Arizona Cardinals (58 Percent Rostered)

DraftKings DFS Price: $5,900

Last week, Jimmy Garoppolo disappointed fantasy managers who plugged him into their lineups as a streamer option while Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow had a bye week. He threw for 240 scoreless yards against the Los Angeles Chargers defense, which has allowed 13 passing touchdowns in nine games (ranked 18th leaguewide). He scored on a rushing touchdown but only netted 15.9 fantasy points.

Garoppolo has a chance to redeem himself in a favorable matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, who own the 23rd-ranked pass defense and have surrendered the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.

Between the 49ers' backfield and perimeter playmakers, Garoppolo has a bevy of quality pass-catchers to target, including Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings and George Kittle.

Though 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan relies on the ground attack as a staple in his offense, he may have more success against the Cardinals' bottom-third pass defense than their ninth-ranked run defense. Garoppolo could post a top-10 fantasy stat line among quarterbacks in Week 11.

QB Marcus Mariota vs. Chicago Bears (38 Percent Rostered)

DraftKings DFS Price: $5,500

Last Thursday, Marcus Mariota had an NFL blooper-worthy play that made spectators cringe. Still he scored 18.7 fantasy points in a 25-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers, throwing for 186 yards, two touchdowns and an interception with 43 rushing yards.

Despite Mariota's uneven performances in recent outings, head coach Arthur Smith doesn't intend to make a change at the quarterback position.

In Week 11, Mariota will face the Chicago Bears, who have surrendered at least 31 points in three consecutive games, allowed the fifth-most rushing yards per contest and given up the most rushing touchdowns through 10 weeks.

Even with Cordarrelle Patterson—Atlanta's second-leading rusher—back from a knee injury, Mariota should have plenty of opportunities to move the ball against the Bears' weak run defense. Mariota has rushed for at least 43 yards in five out of 10 games with three touchdowns on the ground this season.

RB Isiah Pacheco at Los Angeles Chargers (47 Percent Rostered)

DraftKings DFS Price: $5,300

Fantasy managers should take note of the workload shift in the Kansas City Chiefs backfield.

In Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, rookie seventh-rounder Isiah Pacheco led the team in carries (16) and rushing yards (82), while Clyde Edwards-Helaire played a season-low six percent of the offensive snaps and finished the game without a rush attempt. Running back Jerick McKinnon and fullback Michael Burton registered a carry apiece.

The Chiefs may revert to a committee approach against the Los Angeles Chargers, though Pacheco could continue to lead the platoon in an advantageous matchup.

The Chargers have allowed the third-most fantasy points to running backs, the third-most rushing yards per contest and the second-most yards per carry. Any running back with a decent workload has a chance to post a solid fantasy stat line in a matchup with Los Angeles.

Pacheco has started over Edwards-Helaire for each of the Chiefs' previous three games, averaging 9.7 carries per contest in that span. He's touched the ball enough in recent weeks to earn flex consideration against the Chargers.

RB Latavius Murray vs. Las Vegas Raiders (24 Percent Rostered)

DraftKings DFS Price: $5,000

Latavius Murray should have a decent workload in a matchup against the team that selected him in the sixth round of the 2013 draft. In three out of four games with the Denver Broncos, he's either registered 14-plus carries or scored a touchdown.

Because of his workload and scoring opportunities, Murray could provide low-end RB2 value in a three-man backfield that also includes Melvin Gordon III and Chase Edmonds, who only played 19 percent of the offensive snaps in his first game with the team last week.

The Las Vegas Raiders allow the sixth-most fantasy points to running backs, and they just gave up 207 rushing yards to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10, which is the most their run defense has allowed in a game this season.

If Gordon isn’t available (rostered in 71 percent of Yahoo leagues), pick up Murray, who has a decent touch volume and touchdown rate in Denver. Two running backs on the same team could rack up double-digit fantasy points against the Raiders' 21st-ranked run defense.

WR Darius Slayton vs. Detroit Lions (29 Percent Rostered)

DraftKings DFS Price: $5,000

The New York Giants field the 29th-ranked passing offense, and quarterback Daniel Jones averages just 177.3 yards per game. That said, Big Blue has one wide receiver who's worth a look as a solid WR3 or flex option.

Darius Slayton has a high fantasy production floor and some boom potential because of his big-play ability, averaging 17.2 yards per reception this season. He's scored at least 11.6 fantasy points in PPR leagues in four of the Giants' past five outings.

Slayton had his highest fantasy scoring output in Week 10 against the Houston Texans, racking up 18.5 points (three catches for 95 yards and a touchdown). He leads the Giants in receiving yards for the season (327) with two scores.

As Kenny Golladay continues to struggle with drops and rookie second-rounder Wan'Dale Robinson works his way into a rhythm on the pro level, Slayton stands out as the Giants' most reliable receiver. This week, he'll have a mouth-watering matchup with the Detroit Lions, who rank 27th in pass defense and have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season.

WR Van Jefferson at New Orleans Saints (24 Percent Rostered)

DraftKings DFS Price: $4,500

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams placed Cooper Kupp on injured reserve (high ankle sprain/surgery), leaving a huge void to fill in their passing attack. The 2021 Offensive Player of the Year leads the team in targets (98), catches (75), receiving yards (812) and touchdown receptions (six).

Fantasy managers shouldn't expect the Rams to rely on one pass-catcher to replace Kupp's production, but Van Jefferson will likely see a significant boost in his target share.

With Kupp sidelined, Allen Robinson II, who has 29 catches for 292 yards and two touchdowns, will become a solid WR2, and Tyler Higbee, who's second on the team in receptions (44) and receiving yards (385), moves into TE1 territory. Meanwhile, Jefferson gains strong flex appeal. Last year, he averaged 16 yards per catch and scored six touchdowns as a starter in 17 contests.

Of course, Jefferson would be more appealing to fantasy managers if quarterback Matthew Stafford clears concussion protocol, but the third-year wideout hauled in all three of his targets for 27 yards and a touchdown with John Wolford under center last week. Stafford practiced in full Wednesday.

With more targets to go around in the Rams offense, Jefferson belongs on your sleeper radar as he prepares for a matchup with the New Orleans Saints, who are stingy against passing attacks (sixth in yards allowed) but rank 17th in fantasy points allowed to wideouts. By the way, the NFC South club doesn't have a timetable for its top cornerback (Marshon Lattimore) to return from an abdomen injury.

In a Kupp-less Rams offense, Jefferson will have plenty of opportunities to make plays downfield, which should attract managers in PPR leagues.

TE Hayden Hurst at Pittsburgh Steelers (55 Percent Rostered)

DraftKings DFS Price: $3,500

Hayden Hurst doesn't have the most advantageous matchup this week, as the Pittsburgh Steelers rank 23rd in fantasy points allowed to tight ends.

However, Hurst will likely continue to see plenty of opportunities in the passing game while wideout Ja'Marr Chase nurses a hip injury.

Per Joe Danneman of FOX19 in Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Bengals haven't provided an official update on Chase's condition, but he noted that the star receiver is still on crutches. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the team is "hopeful" Chase returns next week against the Tennessee Titans.

For now, Hurst seems primed to take the field as the third option in the passing game behind wideouts Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd. Without Chase on the field in the previous two games, the Bengals tight end has hauled in all nine of his targets for 77 yards.

Though Hurst hasn't posted gaudy numbers in Chase's absence, he's capable of scoring double-digit fantasy points with a touchdown on top of his catch and receiving yard totals. And by the way, the Steelers have allowed the second-most passing touchdowns through 10 weeks. Also of note, Hurst caught five passes for 46 yards against Pittsburgh in Week 1.

TE Foster Moreau at Denver Broncos (33 Percent Rostered)

Michael Owens/Getty Images

DraftKings DFS Price: $3,700

Darren Waller (hamstring) hasn't played since Week 5, and the Las Vegas Raiders placed him on injured reserve last week. The team also placed wideout Hunter Renfrow (oblique) on the injured list last Thursday. As a pass-catcher, Foster Moreau has a chance to boost his market value before he hits free agency next offseason.

Following the Raiders' Week 6 bye, Moreau has caught at least three passes in three out of four games. Last week against the Indianapolis Colts, he scored his first touchdown of the season. The fourth-year tight end has accumulated at least 42 receiving yards in each of his past two outings.

As the Raiders' clear-cut starting tight end, Moreau has a little bit of momentum going into a matchup with the Denver Broncos, who rank 15th in fantasy points allowed to tight ends.

With Waller and Renfrow out, Moreau could see plenty of targets in a decent matchup.
