MJF and the Top WWE and AEW Stars Under the Age 30

Donald Wood

The wrestling business is full of storied veterans who have been around for decades, but there is a strong youth movement within the industry that proves the sport is in good hands for the foreseeable future.

While WWE has shown a dependence on older wrestlers for a long time, the move to Triple H as the leader of the creative team has resulted in an infusion of youth to the roster.

In AEW, Tony Khan has blended a unique mix of respected veterans and fresh faces just establishing themselves in the business.

Here are the top WWE and AEW wrestlers under the age of 30.

MJF

At just 26 years old, AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman is already one of the most talented performers in wrestling and hasn’t even come close to reaching his full potential. With MJF just days away from likely winning his first world championship, the young star is ready to prove his time is now.

While there was much confusion about MJF’s status with AEW after he disappeared following a lopsided loss to Wardlow at Double or Nothing, the talented performer returned to television at All Out in the best shape of his life and won the Casino ladder match’s title shot.

At Full Gear, MJF will finally ascend to the company’s top spot and beat Jon Moxley for the world title. With one of the best talkers in the business at the top of the card, expect the ratings for Dynamite and Rampage to increase. AEW is in good hands for the foreseeable future.

Toni Storm

As AEW’s current women’s champion and a former standout in WWE, Toni Storm has taken the wrestling world by force over the last three years. The best part for Tony Khan and company is that the talented performer is only 27 years old.

Since winning the interim AEW women's title at All Out, Storm has successfully defended the belt three times and will look to do it again at Full Gear when she squares off against Jamie Hayter in a highly anticipated battle.

While Storm has already become one of the top stars in the company, her status will only continue to rise when the injured champion, Thunder Rosa, returns and looks to prove she is the better titleholder.

Storm should unify the title and lead the division moving forward as a true cornerstone.

Sonya Deville

At just 29 years old, there are few women in the wrestling business with as much untapped potential as WWE Superstar Sonya Deville. Whether it’s on the mic or in the ring, the former mixed martial arts fighter has the potential to be a top star.

While Deville is currently stuck in the role of gatekeeper, losing to some of the top up-and-coming stars in the business to get them ready for title matches, it should be her time to shine soon as she becomes more involved in Ronda Rousey’s storylines.

As the SmackDown general manager, Deville made the blue brand more enjoyable, and her interactions with Adam Pearce were always entertaining. Eventually, she should join forces on TV with Rousey and form a powerful stable alongside Shayna Baszler.

After the trio runs roughshod on the rest of the main roster, Deville should finally get the push she deserves and turn on the heel Rousey to become a beloved babyface. With a long-term feud against Baszler and Rousey, it should be Deville who eventually takes the champion’s title.

Jungle Boy

Since losing the tag team titles in June, the booking of "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry has been sporadic, but there is no denying the long-term career trajectory of the 25-year-old superstar in the making.

While the consistency in the storyline featuring Christian Cage and Luchasaurus has been lackluster—look to Tony Khan when placing blame for this—Perry has shown the fire and edge needed to become one of AEW’s true pillars moving into the future.

The hope is that Jungle Boy will be given a bigger opportunity to hone his skills in front of live audiences, standing toe-to-toe with industry veterans like Cage to increase his notoriety.

Unlike MJF, Perry’s talent has yet to show itself fully. It’s up to Khan and the other decision-makers in AEW to realize the raw potential and focus more on getting the most out of Jungle Boy.

Perry may only be 25 years old, but he has the ability to be a top star now.
