Fantasy Football Big Board: Complete PPR Player Rankings for Week 10

Gary Davenport

The 2022 NFL season is now halfway over. But we're past the halfway point in fantasy leagues. In fact, the stretch run is right around the corner.

Coming off the first of two six-team bye weeks this season, some fantasy managers are happy as can be. They are rolling with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and getting San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey back. All is well as they gear up for the fantasy playoffs.

Others are at the opposite end of the spectrum. They are trying to figure out why they drafted Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Trying to get excited about the return of Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris. They have relegated themselves to maybe playing spoiler, playing out the string and calling it a year.

Then, of course, there are all those folks in the middle. Managers with one foot on both sides of that line. Ones with 5-4 and 4-5 teams whose fates remain uncertain. Folks who need to squeeze out as many wins as possible over the next month.

No matter where you are nine weeks into the 2022 campaign, this article aims to help. Here you'll find position-by-position PPR rankings for Week 10 and some matchups to either target or avoid.

Now let's get to winning.

Quarterbacks

AP Photo/Nam Y. Huh

Last year, Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers led the NFL in both passing yards and passing touchdowns. Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams was third in passing yards and second in touchdown passes. Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers was fourth in touchdown passes and won his second successive MVP award.

Brady and Stafford were top-five fantasy options, and Rodgers finished inside the top-12. All three were touted by some fantasy analysts (including this one) as value picks in 2022.

Yeah, um…about that.

Nine games into the season, Brady has thrown multiple touchdown passes all of once. Stafford has more games with zero touchdowns than outings with more than one. Rodgers has eclipsed 260 passing yards in one game—last week against the Lions.

None of the trio rank inside the top 10 in fantasy points among quarterbacks. Brady's the only one who sits inside the top 12. Stafford sits well outside the top 20.

If the future is now for fantasy quarterbacks, then it appears the past should have been left there.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Justin Fields, Chicago Bears (vs. DET) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,500)

Fields gashed the Miami Dolphins for 178 rushing yards last week—the most by a quarterback in a regular-season game during the Super Bowl era. Fantasy football's highest-scoring quarterback over the past month now gets a matchup with Detroit's NFL-worst defense.

Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos (at TEN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900)

Wilson is another veteran who has failed to meet expectations in 2022. However, he played arguably his best game of the season last time out against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Tennessee pass defense was just shredded by Patrick Mahomes.

BAD MATCHUPS

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings (at BUF) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,000)

Cousins has been a low-end weekly fantasy starter for most of the season, ranking 10th in both fantasy points and fantasy points per game at his position. Last week's loss to the Jets notwithstanding, the Bills remain one of the best defensive teams in the league, though.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys (at GB) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,600)

Two weeks ago, the Cowboys put together their best all-around offensive effort of the season. While the Packers are reeling after losing five straight, the defense has been solid—Green Bay has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks in 2022.

SLEEPER

Jacoby Brissett, Cleveland Browns (at MIA) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,400)

Brissett's days as the starter for the Browns are numbered, but he's coming off his best fantasy stat line of the season two weeks ago against the Bengals and draws a Miami defense in Week 10 surrendering the seventh-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season.

Running Backs

AP Photo/Gary McCullough

It's not often that a player heading into his bye week gets mentioned in the intro for that week's running back rankings.

But it's also not often that a back has a game like Joe Mixon of the Cincinnati Bengals just had. As a matter of fact, no running back in the history of the Bengals has ever had a game like Mixon had against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9.

It wasn't just the 22 carries for 153 yards, although that's quite the day at the office. Or the four catches for 58 yards that sent his total yardage well north of 200. No, what made Mixon's day the smash performance of the season were the five touchdowns he scored.

That's right. Five. As in one more than four. Half of 10. Five.

If Mixon was in your starting lineup, you probably won. If he was in your opponent's starting lineup, you probably did not.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars (at KC) (DraftKings DFS Value: $7,100)

It hasn't really garnered the run it should, but Etienne has been outstanding for the Jaguars in what is essentially his rookie season. Etienne has surpassed 100 total yards in five straight games, and he'll probably make it an even half-dozen against a soft Chiefs run defense Sunday.

Jamaal Williams, Detroit Lions (at CHI) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900)

Williams isn't as dynamic a talent as D'Andre Swift, but with Swift once again hampered by injuries, it's Williams who has served as Detroit's lead back ahead of a matchup with a Bears run defense that ranks 30th in the league.

BAD MATCHUPS

A.J. Dillon, Green Bay Packers (vs. DAL) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,700)

With Aaron Jones nursing a sore ankle, Dillon's beleaguered fantasy managers are likely hopeful that he'll finally get a hefty share of the backfield action in Week 10. But those touches will unfortunately come against a Dallas team allowing the fourth-fewest PPR points per game to running backs in 2022.

Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. NO) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,500)

Harris has been a massive disappointment in 2022 for a number of reasons, some of which have nothing to do with Harris himself. Now coming out of the bye, he has to face a Saints defense that has been a bottom-10 fantasy matchup for opposing running backs this year.

SLEEPER

Jeff Wilson Jr., Miami Dolphins (vs. CLE) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,500)

Wilson garnered a dozen touches in his Dolphins debut, tallying 72 total yards and finding the end zone on the way to 16.2 PPR fantasy points. The Browns have been relatively soft against the run this season, allowing just over 123 yards a game on the ground.

WEEK 10 RUNNING BACK RANKINGS

1. Christian McCaffrey, SF (vs. LAC)

2. Saquon Barkley, NYG (vs. HOU)

3. Nick Chubb, CLE (at MIA)

4. Derrick Henry, TEN (vs. DEN)

5. Alvin Kamara, NO (at PIT)

6. Travis Etienne Jr., JAX (at KC)

7. Dalvin Cook, MIN (at BUF)

Wide Receivers

AP Photo/Kirk Irwin

There's a new top dog among fantasy wide receivers.

Granted, it comes with a caveat. In terms of fantasy points per game, both Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams and Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills are ahead of Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins—the former two have already had their bye week. But in terms of total fantasy points, Hill is the clubhouse leader halfway into the fantasy season.

Batterymate Jaylen Waddle is having a year, too. Waddle is fifth among receivers in fantasy points, ahead of the likes of Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders, A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles and Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Remember when we were worried about what the switch from Patrick Mahomes to Tua Tagovailoa would do to Hill's fantasy value?

Those were fun times.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns (at MIA) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,500)

Cooper has been exactly what the Browns were looking for—a go-to wide receiver. Cooper has more games this season with 20 or more PPR points than games with less than 10, and the Dolphins secondary has been a weakness this season.

Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints (at PIT) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,800)

Olave has assumed the role of No. 1 receiver for the Saints without missing a beat. He could be set for a huge Week 10 when New Orleans travels to Pittsburgh—no team in the NFL has given up more fantasy points per game to wide receivers than the Steelers.

BAD MATCHUPS

Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders (vs. IND) (DraftKings DFS Value: $8,700)

Should you sit Adams in seasonlong leagues this week? Of course not—he's a high-end WR1 regardless of matchup. But this week's matchup with Stephon Gilmore and a Colts defense allowing the second-fewest PPR points per game to wideouts is rough, and Derek Carr has been shaky of late.

Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts (at LV) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,200)

This call isn't so much about who the Colts are playing—as Christian Kirk and the Jaguars showed last week, the Raiders aren't that difficult to throw on. But with Sam Ehlinger under center for Indy, the entire concept of the forward pass has gone out the window.

SLEEPER

Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars (at KC) (DraftKings DFS Value: $4,400)

After a strong start to the season, Jones' fantasy production has tailed off of late. However, the seventh-year veteran has posted at least nine PPR points in two of the past three games, and Jones gets a favorable fantasy matchup in Week 10 against Kansas City's 24th-ranked pass defense.

WEEK 10 WIDE RECEIVER RANKINGS

1. Cooper Kupp, LAR (vs. ARI)

2. Tyreek Hill, MIA (vs. CLE)

3. Stefon Diggs, BUF (vs. MIN)

Tight Ends

AP Photo/Gregory Bull

The tight end position has long been lamented for its lack of depth. And to be fair, for much of this season there have been two tiers at the position. There's the tier with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs and Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens, and then there's everyone else.

However, there are at least a couple tight ends trying to establish themselves as dependable weekly starters, including a guy who just changed teams this past week.

That guy is T.J. Hockenson, who was dealt from Detroit to Minnesota. Outside of one massive game back in Week 4 against the Seahawks, Hockenson had been something of a disappointment this season. But despite having only been with his new team a few days, Hockenson played a big part in Minnesota's comeback win over the Washington Commanders, hauling in nine passes for 70 yards.

Hockenson wasn't the only second-tier tight end who had a first-rate Week 9. The first game of the week saw Dallas Goedert of the Philadelphia Eagles reel in eight passes for 100 yards and a touchdown against the Houston Texans.

Hockenson and Goedert still aren't on the level of Andrews and Kelce, who seemingly never have "down" weeks unless they're hurt. But tight ends like these and Arizona's Zach Ertz are at least trying to narrow the gap between the haves and have nots.

That's most assuredly a good thing for fantasy managers.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (vs. ARI) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,600)

Fantasy managers are likely still giving Higbee the stink-eye after he posted the dreaded goose-egg against the Buccaneers last week. Shake it off—the Cardinals have been roasted by tight ends all season long and just allowed a big stat line to Seattle's Noah Fant.

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns (at MIA) (DraftKings DFS Value: $4,100)

Njoku missed some time with an ankle injury, but according to reports he plans to play in Miami on Sunday. If that's the case, it will be against a Dolphins team that has given up the third-most fantasy points per game to tight ends in 2022.

BAD MATCHUPS

Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals (at LAR) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,200)

Ertz has been equal parts productive and consistent this season, failing to record double-digit PPR points just once. However, the Rams have been a tough matchup for tight ends this season, allowing the fourth-fewest PPR points per game to the position.

Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys (at GB) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,800)

Schultz was more involved in the Dallas offense two weeks ago, setting season highs in both catches (six) and receiving yards. He gets a tough matchup in his first game post-bye, as the Packers have allowed the third-fewest PPR points per game to tight ends this season.

SLEEPER

Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars (at KC) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,300)

Engram sat out part of last week's win over the Raiders with a back injury, but his availability for Sunday's trip to Kansas City isn't believed to be in question. If Engram does play against the Chiefs, he will be doing so in a solid fantasy matchup for tight ends.

WEEK 10 TIGHT END RANKINGS

1 Travis Kelce, KC (vs. JAX)

2 George Kittle, SF (vs. LAC)

3 Dallas Goedert, PHI (vs. WAS)

4 Tyler Higbee, LAR (vs. ARI)

5 T.J. Hockenson, MIN (at BUF)

Kickers and Defenses

AP Photo/Stephen Brashear

For the most part, the top of the team defense leaderboard is about what you'd expect. The New England Patriots own the top spot after dominating the Colts last week. The Dallas Cowboys were idle last week, but they still pace all defenses in terms of fantasy points per game. The Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles are the top seeds in their respective conferences and top-five defenses in terms of both yards and points allowed.

Then there's the Seattle Seahawks, which makes perfect sense, becau…wait a minute…

The Seattle Seahawks?

For most of the first month-plus of the season, the Seahawks were one of the worst defenses in the league. Over the first five weeks of the season, Seattle was 19th in fantasy points among defenses.

Over the past month, though, it's a completely different story. The pass rush has caught fire. The Seahawks are taking the ball away. Over the past four weeks (all Seahawks wins), Seattle is allowing 16.5 points per contest and has scored more fantasy points than every defense save one—the aforementioned Patriots.

The Seahawks draw a tough fantasy matchup this week in Germany, as the Buccaneers have allowed the eighth-fewest fantasy points per game to defenses in 2022.

But Seattle has been so hot, it might not be wise to bet against it.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Randy Bullock, Tennessee Titans (vs. DEN)

Bullock is admittedly a risky play given the uncertainty at quarterback in Tennessee. But it's worth noting that while Denver's defense is stout, the team has quietly allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to kickers in 2022.

Las Vegas Raiders Defense (vs. IND) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,800)

To be clear, the Raiders aren't a great defense...or even a good defense. But this week, the Raiders face a Colts offense that can't score led by a quarterback who can't throw coached by a guy who was doing TV spots instead of devising a game plan just a few days ago.

BAD MATCHUPS

Greg Joseph, Minnesota Vikings (at BUF)

The good news with Joseph is that Minnesota's offense affords him a solid number of opportunities. The bad news is that he has been terrible in taking advantage of them—his field goal success rate in 2022 is a dismal 68.8 percent. Throw in a bad matchup with the Bills, and he's a 10-foot pole pass.

Buffalo Bills Defense (vs. MIN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,700)

The Bills have arguably the best defense in the league. They will be playing at home in front of Bills Mafia. They are likely seething after last week's loss to the Jets. All that said, only two teams have surrendered fewer fantasy points per game to defenses this season than the Vikings.

SLEEPER

Arizona Cardinals Defense (at LAR) (DraftKings DFS Value: $2,700)

The Cardinals have quietly been a decent fantasy defense this season, especially when the matchup is right. This week's tilt with the Rams most assuredly qualifies—the Rams lead the NFC in fantasy points per contest given up to defenses.

Top 100 Overall/"Flex" Rankings

AP Photo/Kyusung Gong

Before we get to the Top 100 players overall for Week 10 (a list that should be of assistance in making "flex" decisions), a couple quick tidbits of information and a friendly bit of advice.

The first is the same as every other week. These rankings do not include quarterbacks. If your fantasy league has a "superflex" spot, then the list of quarterbacks who shouldn't be plugged into that spot is a short one. (Looking at you, Sam Ehlinger. Looking right…at…you.)

The second is that four teams are taking Week 10 off. The Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots and New York Jets are on bye. No Lamar Jackson, Tee Higgins or Rhamondre Stevenson this week.

Finally, a tidbit of advice that may seem a bit odd coming from the author of this piece. If you are absolutely certain that I'm wrong about a player…ignore me.

I do quite a bit of research and have a substantial amount of experience doing this. I've won a couple awards and everything. But I'm wrong...a lot. Every fantasy analyst is. Goes with the territory. Part of the job.

It you are convinced a player is going to go off, start him. If you're equally sure another will fall flat, sit him. I don't have to live with the consequences of your lineup decisions. No one does except you.

Being wrong sucks. But realizing you were right after the fact and then kicking yourself for a week is so much worse.
