Logan Paul Injury Brutal Blow to WWE, Judgment Day is Finally Great, More Quick Takes

Crown Jewel 2022 was another enjoyable installment in the WWE's string of Saudi Arabia shows, highlighted by a terrific title match between Roman Reigns and Logan Paul.

Unfortunately, WWE confirmed Sunday that the social media star suffered significant injuries during the heavily touted bout and is expected to be out of action indefinitely.

Despite that, Paul proved plenty in defeat after such a stellar performance, much in the same way The Judgment Day has turned heads with the way they've been booked in recent months. They are far from a perfect faction but have improved immensely during the Triple H era of WWE.

That was once again evident with the way they were presented at Crown Jewel, including their latest triumph over The O.C. If they can continue to build momentum, WWE will have completely changed the fortune of a group that was on the fast track to nowhere two months ago.

Quick Takes this week will tackle WWE fixing Judgment Day, when we can expect the rubber match between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, AEW overshadowing its own roster and more.

Logan Paul's Injuries Couldn't Have Come at a Worse Time

Logan Paul has wrestled all of three matches in WWE and has already joined the likes of Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle as one of the quickest athletes to ever take to the business.

He had yet another outstanding performance against Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel and fought valiantly in an effort to become Undisputed WWE Universal champion, only to walk away with a torn meniscus, MCL and possibly ACL.

Triple H has been smart about using part-timers since taking over WWE's creative direction, and Paul's booking has been nearly perfect. He remains miscast as a babyface, but his matches have gotten the crowd behind him every time.

It's unknown what plans WWE had for him, if any, before getting hurt, but he will certainly be sidelined for the foreseeable future. He had major momentum coming out of Crown Jewel that will unfortunately have to be put on hold until he's cleared to compete again.

That means a WrestleMania match for the social media star is very likely out of the question, and that's a big blow for WWE. Of course, the event won't be a failure without him in action, but he's most definitely a draw in his own way and could have been involved in a marquee matchup on the card.

Fans can only hope he'll be able to pick up where he left off upon his return to the ring, because he has the potential to be one of WWE's biggest and best at the rate he's progressing as a performer.

Aftermath Is Key to Karrion Kross' Success Following Drew McIntyre Feud

Karrion Kross has been embroiled in a heated rivalry with Drew McIntyre the entire time he's been back in WWE, and their Steel Cage match at Crown Jewel felt like an appropriate payoff to their story.

With Kross being protected in defeat and McIntyre avenging his loss from Extreme Rules, there is no reason for the rivalry to continue through Survivor Series. A rubber match is possible but not necessary, especially if the idea is for McIntyre to beat Kross again.

Regardless of what's next for Kross, WWE must tread lightly with his booking from this point forward and ensure he doesn't get lost in the shuffle in SmackDown now that he's already feuded with one the brand's biggest babyfaces.

It wasn't crucial for Kross to win at Crown Jewel, but where he goes from here will be interesting. Between Rey Mysterio, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sheamus, SmackDown has plenty of popular fan favorites he can work with.

If he goes back to being just another guy on the roster, WWE will have dropped the ball on his potential for a second straight time.

Jeff Jarrett, Colt Cabana AEW Appearances Overshadow Active Roster

AEW's surprise returns and debuts may have reached a new level of ridiculousness last Wednesday on Dynamite.

Jeff Jarrett was the first familiar face to pop up during the broadcast, aiding Jay Lethal in his assault in Darby Allin. Although Jarrett can be an asset to the promotion in his new role as the director of business development, making him a recurring character on television is a mistake.

Colt Cabana then resurfaced on Dynamite for the first time in nearly a year to answer Chris Jericho's open challenge for the ROH World Championship. The moment was clearly more about backstage happenings than enhancing the on-air product.

Even Katsuyori Shibata's surprise appearance, which was used to set up a bout between him and Orange Cassidy for Rampage that Friday, was fun albeit unnecessary. Bringing in so many new people becomes a problem when AEW doesn't spotlight its active roster nearly enough.

The company has acquired so much talent in the last two years that several promising prospects are either left with nothing to do or not on Dynamite at all.

There's no excuse for stars such as Ricky Starks and Miro being as underutilized as they have been without direction. Focus should be devoted less to outsiders and more to those who will make a difference long term.

Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley Is Primed to Blow Off at WrestleMania

Not only did Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley deliver in the short span of time they were allotted at Crown Jewel, the excellently executed finish also set the stage for what should be a blockbuster rubber match.

The question now is when that anticipated encounter should take place.

Survivor Series in three weeks would be the most logical destination. There's been no indication as of late that the event will center around brand supremacy as it has in years past, and Lesnar vs. Lashley III would be the perfect attraction for such a stage.

Running it back at the Royal Rumble, one year removed from their initial outing, is also a viable option. That show is always about the Rumble matches themselves, and their non-title affair could help fill out the undercard.

If WWE plays its cards right, however, then WrestleMania 39 will be where their feud finally culminates.

Lesnar being a part-time performer makes it easier to drag their storyline out for another five months. They can interact in the Rumble and at other points ahead of 'Mania, building up excitement for the payoff in the process.

These next few months can also involve Lashley putting The Hurt Business back together to further stack the odds against Lesnar. Either way, Lesnar vs. Lashley has WrestleMania match written all over it.

Triple H Has Redeemed Judgment Day

Once Finn Balor replaced Edge as the leader of The Judgment Day and they started to lose whenever it mattered most, the writing appeared to be on the wall for the faction.

Amazingly, they've been much better off since the addition of Dominik Mysterio back in September. Balor, Mysterio, Damian Priest and especially Rhea Ripley have jelled exceptionally well together and have finally found their footing as a unit.

Their booking has been pivotal to their recent success as well. They've remained dominant not only on Raw but also on pay-per-view with Balor besting Edge at Extreme Rules and Balor, Priest and Mysterio knocking off The O.C. at Crown Jewel.

Above all else, positioning Ripley as the leader of Judgment Day was the right call. She's been a fantastic fit in the role and her dynamic with Dominik in particular has developed nicely.

Their lack of established goals has held them back a bit, but otherwise, they're firing on all cylinders. Triple H hasn't hit a home run with every booking decision he's made so far, but Judgement Day being redeemed does give hope that other damaged acts can soon be salvaged as well.
