Free-Agent PG Rajon Rondo Reaches Settlement in Assault and Battery Suit

Rajon Rondo reportedly reached a settlement with Toktam Jorshari, who filed a civil lawsuit saying she suffered injuries during a July 2020 altercation with the longtime NBA point guard and his girlfriend, Latoia Fitzgerald.

TMZ Sports reported Saturday that Jorshari's attorney filed a notice in Los Angeles Court that a settlement was reached between the parties. A judge must formally dismiss the case.

Surveillance video obtained by TMZ shows Rondo, Fitzgerald and Jorshari becoming engaged in a confrontation, which Jorshari alleged was sparked by Rondo expressing frustration about how close she parked to his Rolls-Royce.

Rondo appears to make contact with Jorshari by nudging her with his elbow, which led to a fight between Jorshari and Fitzgerald, per TMZ.

"No man should ever put their hands on a woman," the lawsuit, which was filed in December 2020 and accused Rondo of assault and battery, stated. "Especially an NBA basketball player with superior height and strength. The video speaks for itself."

Rondo didn't publicly comment on the allegations. His lawyer, Mark D. Baute, initially told TMZ the claims were "meritless."

The 36-year-old Kentucky native was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers at the time of the alleged assault.

He's also played for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers during a 16-year NBA career.

In May, Rondo was accused of using a gun to threaten Ashley Bachelor, with whom he has two children. Bachelor was issued a temporary restraining order following the allegations, although there has been no public update on the case since the initial reports.

Rondo remains a free agent ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, which starts in October.
