Kevin Durant's use of an expletive during a postgame media session after a Jan. 10 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers has cost him $15,000. 

NBA President of League Operations Byron Spruell announced Friday that the Brooklyn Nets superstar has been fined for using "profane language" while speaking to the media and for failing to comply with an NBA security interview as part of the review process. 

Durant told reporters Monday after a 114-108 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on a back-to-back:  "Who cares? That's what championship teams go through—a little adversity. ... Everybody's schedule is f--ked up."

The Nets' schedule this week did not do them any favors. The back-to-back started with a Sunday afternoon overtime home win over the San Antonio Spurs before the Nets traveled to face the Trail Blazers in Portland on Monday night. 

Durant, who played 43 minutes Sunday, was asked by reporters after the Spurs game if he would play against the Blazers because of the quick turnaround time after a cross-country trip.

"I want to play," he said. "And then they pay me money to play basketball."

This marks the second time during the 2021-22 season that Durant has been fined by the league. He was previously docked $25,000 for directing profanity at a fan during a Dec. 10 game against the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena.

Nets head coach Steve Nash sat Durant for Thursday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He should return for Sunday's home matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans.
