Tony Romo Shoots 75, Fails to Advance in Local US Open Qualifier

Timothy Rapp

For a former NFL player, Tony Romo is pretty darn good at golf. But he's not U.S. Open good.

The CBS Sports broadcaster shot a 3-over 75 at the Bridges Golf Club in Gunter, Texas, a local qualifier for the U.S. Open, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. That left him two strokes short of the playoff for the final berth in the sectional qualifying.

According to Williams, Romo has reached the sectional qualifying just once, back in 2010.

He, of course, isn't alone as a current or former professional athlete to enjoy a round of golf, though he is one of the better players amongst that group. Steph Curry arguably tops that list, a marksman both on the court and the greens.
