John Franklin III, who was featured on the Netflix show Last Chance U, agreed to a deal with the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Franklin announced the news via Twitter:

SB Nation's Alex Kirshner provided a few more details:

College football fans became familiar with Franklin when Last Chance U followed East Mississippi Community College for the 2015 season.

He was the No. 23 junior college recruit in the 2016 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings, and signed with the Auburn Tigers. As a backup quarterback for Auburn, he ran for 430 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 204 yards and a score.

Franklin transferred to Florida Atlantic for his final season and moved to wide receiver. He caught seven passes for 95 yards and a touchdown and ran for 229 yards and two touchdowns.

The fact that Franklin is shifting to a third position in as many seasons won't make his adjustment to the NFL any easier, but the Bears at least provided him with an opportunity to earn a roster spot at the next level.
