Floyd Mayweather Jr. suggested on Instagram Wednesday that Conor McGregor has bigger things to worry about than his August loss in their boxing match. 

In a profanity-filled caption, Money told McGregor he was "about to start your new year off with a bang" while referencing the possibility the MMA fighter punched a member of the Irish cartel:

Mayweather also referenced their bout, which he won in a 10th round technical knockout in Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena.

This isn't the first social media exchange involving the two fighters since their August matchup.

McGregor appeared to call Mayweather a "p---y" in a tweet in an apparent response to the undefeated boxer denying he was going to fight in the UFC during an interview with FightHype (h/t MMA Weekly).

The idea was circulating after UFC President Dana White told ESPN.com's Brett Okamoto there were discussions of a potential deal with Mayweather.

As far as McGregor's issues with the Irish cartel, James Dator of SB Nation provided a breakdown in November of what he deemed was a story that was largely "based on conjecture and hearsay."

He cited a story from the International Business Times that referenced the bounty money Mayweather included in his Instagram post, although McGregor's father also said there wasn't anything to worry about.

"This echoes some doubts surrounding the story from people saying if the threats were credible McGregor would have already left Ireland," Dator wrote.

Mayweather's post is sure to generate additional interest in the story, especially since the two fighters will continue to be linked to each other after their August bout generated the second-most pay-per-view buys of all time, per Brian Campbell of CBS Sports.
