NFL RB Dalvin Cook Settles Lawsuit with Ex-Girlfriend After Battery Allegations

Running back Dalvin Cook has settled the lawsuit filed against him by his ex-girlfriend in November 2021 after she accused him of assault, battery and false imprisonment.

Per court documents obtained by ESPN's Jamison Hensley, a hearing scheduled for Tuesday was canceled and the case was closed.

Details of the settlement are not known.

In the lawsuit filed in the Dakota County District Court, Cook's former girlfriend alleged he physically abused her, caused a concussion and held her hostage in his home in 2020 after she flew to Minnesota to end their relationship and take her belongings.

The woman was seeking unspecified monetary damages and accountability from Cook. The two sides held settlement talks before the lawsuit was filed, but they were unable to agree to terms.

After the lawsuit was filed, Cook said during a brief press conference in November 2021 that he was "the victim in this situation and the truth and the details about the situation will come out at a further time."

Cook's attorney, David Valentini, said in a statement his client was assaulted by the woman after she broke into his house and attempted to extort him for millions of dollars.

In December 2021, Cook filed a defamation lawsuit against the woman and accused her of fraud, defamation, invasion of privacy, abuse of process, malicious prosecution, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Rochelle Olson of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune noted Cook's lawsuit is still pending and motions in the case are due no later than October, but a trial date has not yet been set.

Cook is a free agent after spending time with the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens last season. He played the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings.
