Scottie Scheffler's blistering start to the 2024 PGA Tour season continued Monday as he won the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Sunday's final round was suspended due to darkness with Scheffler through 15 holes. With a bogey on No. 18, he finished at 19 under for the tournament and three shots ahead of Sahith Theegala in second place.

The Masters champion made himself another $3.6 million by claiming the RBC Heritage title. That brings his overall season payout to nearly $18.7 million and his career earnings to $86.2 million.

Scheffler pretty much had the win sewn up before he approached the 16th tee Monday.

As the sun was setting Sunday, it looked like there might be some late drama after his second shot landed in the water on No. 15. He still came away with a par thanks to an approach that rolled to within 12 feet of the cup. That preserved his five-shot advantage.

"I felt like the par was pretty important tonight, just being able to go to sleep and still keeping a clean card," he told reporters. "I felt like I got a bad break there in the fairway. I haven't had to hit a shot like that in a long time, so I figured there must have been mud on the bottom of the ball. Just nice to keep the card clean."

Scheffler is on the heater of all heaters. He now has four wins in his last five starts and the lone outlier in that run is a runner-up showing in the Houston Open. This is Tiger Woods territory, to put his recent dominance into perspective.

The 27-year-old is taking a well-earned break for now. He isn't listed in the field for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which tees off Thursday. Instead, he looks likely to enter the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on May 2 before competing for the biggest share of the $20 million purse in the Wells Fargo Championship.

The second major tournament is also less than a month out. The PGA Championship gets underway May 16 at Valhalla Golf Club and you get one guess as to who's the early favorite.
