The Undertaker at Peace; WWE Rumors on Drew McIntyre and Becky Lynch Contract Talks

Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.

Undertaker Says WrestleMania 40 Gave Him 'Closure'

The Undertaker had significant involvement in the main event of WrestleMania 40, and the WWE Hall of Famer suggested that it went a long way toward putting a bow on his in-ring career.

Speaking on his Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway podcast (h/t WrestleTalk), Taker discussed WrestleMania and how it gave him "closure" and made him "at peace" with his decision to retire:

The Undertaker retired after his cinematic Boneyard match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36, but since it occurred at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, no fans were in attendance to see his final match.

The Phenom noted that he has struggled with his decision for years to the point where he has had to leave WWE premium live events before the matches started due to his belief that he should be out there in the ring.

At WrestleMania 40, Roman Reigns defended the undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes in the Night 2 main event under Bloodline Rules, and it ultimately devolved into chaos.

Several top stars of the present and past got involved, including The Undertaker, who sneaked up behind The Rock and laid him out with a chokeslam.

Rhodes went on to beat Reigns and end his 1,300-plus-day run as world champion, and Taker played a significant role in the result.

The Undertaker left the door open to do something similar in the future, but his comments suggest that he finally feels comfortable with the fact that he won't be having another official match.

McIntyre's WWE Contract Reportedly Expiring in 5-6 Weeks

Fresh off both winning and losing the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 earlier this month, Drew McIntyre reportedly has just over one month remaining on his WWE contract.

According to PWInsider.com (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), McIntyre's contract expires in five to six weeks, meaning he could potentially become a free agent in late May or early June.

Many assumed for weeks that McIntyre had already signed or agreed to a new contract since he was booked to beat Cody Rhodes in a singles match on Raw during the road to WrestleMania and won an Elimination Chamber match to establish himself as Seth Rollins' WrestleMania 40 opponent.

McIntyre beat Rollins for the world title at WrestleMania, but he was attacked by CM Punk afterward, and Damian Priest successfully cashed in the Money in the Bank contract on him to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

Per Fightful Select (h/t Carrier), former Executive Vice President of Talent Dan Ventrelle, who reportedly parted ways with WWE last week, hadn't reached out to McIntyre to discuss his contract until last month.

Interestingly, WWE has seemingly been setting the stage for McIntyre to do some big things well beyond when his current contract expires.

He has been used in promotional materials for Clash at the Castle in his home country of Scotland, and that event doesn't take place until June 15, which is presumably when McIntyre's contract would already be expired.

Also, WWE has clearly been building up a future match between McIntyre and Punk, however, Punk is currently out with a torn triceps and likely won't be back in action until the summer.

Everything WWE has done with regard to McIntyre suggests that the company is supremely confident in locking him into a long-term deal, but waiting to do so and feeding into it could potentially make McIntyre and his storyline even more intriguing if done correctly.

Lynch's WWE Contract Reportedly Expiring in 8 Weeks

Like McIntyre, Becky Lynch reportedly doesn't have much time remaining on her WWE contract.

According to PWInsider.com (h/t Nikunj Walia of Ringside News), there are reportedly eight weeks remaining on Lynch's current WWE contract.

That means The Man's deal will likely be up in June, but PWInsider.com added that WWE is "making it a point" to ensure that it signs Lynch to a new contract before her current one expires.

The Irish Superstar faced Rhea Ripley for the Women's World Championship in the opening match of WrestleMania 40, and although she pushed Mami to the limit, Ripley managed to retain.

Becky has not been seen on WWE programming since then, prompting rumors that she was taking some time off, but on Monday, Lynch responded to a post from WWE on X about her making appearances for the company in the United Kingdom this week:

Lynch seemed to confirm the appearances, writing: "See you soon, Europe."

In addition to Lynch, Fightful Select (h/t Carrier) previously reported that Seth Rollins' WWE contract is set to expire in June as well.

Rollins is Lynch's husband, so it seems likely that they will be a package deal either in terms of re-signing with WWE or testing free agency and possibly going elsewhere.

Given that Lynch and Rollins are two of WWE's biggest stars and have been for quite some time, all signs point toward WWE doing everything in its power to keep them in the fold for the long haul and potentially for the remainder of their careers.
