The Rock Confirms Rumors for WWE WrestleMania 41 Amid Cody Rhodes Rivalry in IG Video

Paul Kasabian

The Rock revealed in his post-WrestleMania check-in on Instagram that he'll be coming back for Cody Rhodes when he makes his return to the ring.

He offered his congratulations to the new Universal champion before adding: "When the Final Boss returns, he's coming after you."

The Rock added that his sights are now "set on the next WrestleMania."

Those remarks were made days after Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that The Rock prefers to face Rhodes next year at WrestleMania 41.

"From what we're told, this is very much a long-term thing," the report stated (h/t WrestleTalk).

"There is no planned date for Rock to return for a match, but it's been talked about next year's Mania. As things stand right now, he may work a match later this year but that is not a lock.

"He would prefer to work with Rhodes in the main event of next year's Mania, and as we've seen, he is generally going to get what he wants. That would seem to lock Rhodes in for at least a one-year title reign. We are told is that isn't a lock, but Johnson would prefer it."

The Rock just teamed up with Roman Reigns to defeat Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag team match at WrestleMania XL, marking his return to the ring after an eight-year absence. He then tried to help Reigns defend his Undisputed Universal World Championship against Rhodes on Night 2 of WrestleMania but was unsuccessful.

Obviously, The Rock wants some revenge on Rhodes, and it appears he could get it next year.

For now, Rhodes awaits the winner of the AJ Styles vs. LA Knight match on the April 19 edition of SmackDown, with the victor taking on the champion at WWE Backlash France on May 4.
